That's your biggest problem; never quite being good enough but being too good to get better picks.
Sounds like Sydney's business plan, teams need to survive in a tough market.
Good luck to all, bloody love flogging them though in finals.

What are your thoughts on Vandenberg friend? I asked on the Dee board, Hugh percy kindly answered said basically he may average 95 and may not be a keeper but a good stepping stone. Is he worth the punt and why. :footy:
Souuuup gave a good write up on him too a while back. Just want your two cents bro.
Jisk will tell ya to piss off Martin, good luck!

No for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, and he's proven to be a good scorer but do you really want to spend 400k in the midfield on a stepping stone? I prefer Brayshaw with DPP.

Sydney would have won another flag by now if they hadn't recruited Buddy.

Hawks a better team without him, Swans a better team without him too. Dynamic forward lines work better.

I've had him in and out a few times but ultimately he hasn't made the cut.

Yes he will see more midfield time but it remains a question of how much more. At his price you would want some scoring reliability which I don't think he provides just yet.

Depending on the balance of your side, you can get Hall for an extra 20K who is a surer thing and killing it against the Crows as I type this.

Finally he's had a minor interruption with an ankle injury meaning he misses out on NAB 3. Should have next to no impact but you never know.

I saw Soup's argument and he made a strong case but he's just too much of a gamble at that price for mine. Same deal with Salem who has been in and out. Gawn and Viney are my MFC players.

Agree with the overall conclusion, but for completeness sake of anyone considering Vandenberg, he is also a DPP (forward/midfield)

I'll agree that Hawthorn became a much more well rounded team once Franklin left, I am however confused what makes you think the Swans would have added another flag if he wasn't in their side.

He was huge in 14, if the rest of his teammates decided to turn up GF day, it could have been a different story. And last season both sides finished 16 6, with a hawthorn % much higher.

I would argue that a guy who's averaged 11.3 Kicks 3.4 Handballs 14.7 Disposals 4.9 Marks and 47 Goals could only improve a team?

Yeah, we would've finished 5-8 without Buddy in 2014. He won us several games. He very nearly took 2012 away from us and we didn't really have a forward line then, let alone a 'dynamic' one. We benefited from a reasonably average top 4 and played a belter on GF Day. He's been there two seasons, first one he dominated, the second he clearly had his issues and we were destroyed by injuries. So I've got no idea where this extra flag would have come from.

We'll never know the answer but I'd be surprised if Hawthorn's results would have been any different. He's played in two flags and four GFs. Not bad for a hindrance.

Anyway, back to SuperCoach...

Are wells and/or Menzel imperative this year?
Already got a fwd line of Barlow, S.Gray, buddy, Greene, Hall, Kerridge/ Menadue.

Would love to somehow have dahlhous, Wingard or stringer too, but Should I go with the norm and make room for Menzel or wells?

Thanks guys

Menzel is not a must have. Wells might be important if his body holds up, because he is sure to make money if he can stay on the park.

The must have forwards are Hall and Kerridge. Suit yourself after that.

Asho!!!!! Good to have you back

What are peoples thoughts on Bennell?

A wait and see?

I've currently got him at F2, along with Martin, Hall, Wells, Kerridge and Milera.

Wait and see man. He could kill it or flop.

Better options in Wingard, Barlow, Greene, Dahl, etc.

Has been on limited training with a strained calf due to on going issues with his back, stay away.
Oh and those persistent rumors just won't go away now he's back in WA.

Wouldn't touch him at the start. He's priced at $550k, that's close to his ceiling, even if he kills it he won't go up much.

Just wait and see how we goes. I reckon he'll drop in price and will be a good cheap upgrade target mid year.

Probably safest to wait and see, especially after an interrupted preseason

I'd say pick only 2 max of Gray, Buddy, Greene, Hall...no chance you hit all 4 imo, you would do much better to drop one to Wells/a rookie and upgrade another to Deledio/Dahlhaus/Dusty imo. Personally I have taken Buddy and Hall, I just think the chances are against you and you will end up with a very annoying niggling F5-F6 later in the season that you can't get rid of if you go in with 4 sub-premos. Same with people in defence who have taken Laird as D1 and then going variations of 2-3 of KK, Birchall, Bartel and midpricers.

Thoughts on who the top 6 forwards will be at years end.

Locked for me are Lids, Dusty, Barlow.

Bennell? Joey? Gray?
Wingard and Dahlhaus will be thereabouts again
