He has been injured you simpleton!

Nothing at all logical about it :p
He was injured. He came back, and played 1 game in the SANFL. So far so good - no conclusions drawn thus far.

He was then selected for the Collingwood game. He played one game, and was dropped back to the SANFL. Conclusion: Though fit, he was not in the best 22.

He played 2 more games (R19 & 20), as a result of Henderson's achilles injury.

Seedsman injured his buttock in the 2nd of those games, and only returned to action last weekend. I draw no conclusions from this period.

Lol thats pure fantasy in your head. How do you know Mackay wouldn't have stayed in SANFL and Seedsman still played afl?

Bzzzz you don't! Clown :)

Is this conclusion the same when you look at Brad Crouch, and him being dropped after returning from injury?

Come on.. there's almost no comparison between the two.

Brouch missed the better part of 18 months of football, was underdone when brought in at the start of the season. Eventually they decided to send him back to the SANFL to work on his fitness.

Seedsman had a full pre-season and played the first 12 games of the season at AFL level. He missed 2 games, came back via the SANFL, played 1x AFL game, and was dropped.

There's no valid point of comparison between the two. Their situations have almost nothing in common.

Mackay was dropped as well so obviously not best 22.

Dropped for one game, brought straight back, and has held his position (ahead of Henderson) ever since.

Conclusion: Mackay is in the best 22, but right on the fringe.
This is pretty close to what happened to Seedsman though, isn't it?

Except Mackay was dropped without any injury concerns.

Seedsman was dropped because he was brought back to soon after his hamstring injury.

Seedsman has been out of the team due to injury, and the (conservative) selection panel appear loathe to bring players back too soon.

Conclusion: Without the corked buttock, Seedsman would be ahead of if not level with Mackay. Which I think logically puts him at the front of the Mackay/Seedsman/Henderson battle.

Stretching a bit.. he's dropped, so it must be because he was brought back too soon. Couldn't possibly be because other players were selected ahead of him.

Also worth noting that Seedsman was named on the bench in his last game (R20), with Mackay named on the ground.

Conclusion: Mackay is clearly leading the Mackay/Seed/Henderson battle.

I'm happy to accept that Seed vs Hendo is up for debate, given that they've rarely been available for selection at the same time (in the second half of the season).

Jury is, quite fairly, still out on the players traded in last year.

However it needs to be recognised that, as of right now, they are what their record said they were.

Need to be given 1 more year before a final assessment imo
Injured?

I would argue 2016 was never going to see Hampton do anything more due to a stress fracture in his foot, similar to Lynch in 2012. Menzel again, has also had a campaign that has seen it been destroyed by concussions/an over the top amount of byes... his finals showed something.

Seedsman has been best 22 when fit. Again, that hasn't been as consistent as we'd like.

So all in all, there isn't much if anything you can take from this season.

So you're basing your whole theory on the fact that Seedsman was named on the bench in Round 20 and Mackay wasn't? That seems a bit of a stretch.

Man you speak some utter nonsense.

Wasn't Seedsman coming back from injury in round 18?

The starting 18 means nothing, you've ignored many times when Mackay has been named on the bench.

He has had no continuity in the second half of the season due to injury, you can't possibly deduce he's out of favour.
Particularly when he has just been named as an emergency... Unlike hendo.

Let's use an example outside the football world, let's hypothetically say I'm looking for a blender. I see a good blender that's $100 for 1,000watts of power and decide to buy it, I take it home and use it. A week later I'm out shopping and see another blender, $100 and identical in all ways except for being 1,200watts. The logic you are using says I should buy the second blender because it's slightly more power for the same cost.. but that ignores that I'm out $200 but I only really need 1 of the blenders I have.
Or if you're Poort, you identify which blender you think fits your needs, ignoring it's weaknesses. Then you pay twice the normal price for that blender. You commit yourself long term to that blender for 4 or 5 years. You persist with it, even though it's as weak as p1ss, keeps breaking down and letting you down just when you need it most. After a year or 2 you realise what a blunder you have made of you kitchen appliance management and you try to sell the blender on Gumtree, hoping some sucker will pay an overinflated price for something second rate. If no sucker comes along, you either keep the crappy blender until the 5 year warranty runs out or you finally realise that no-one will be as stupid as you, so pay someone else to take it off your hands. Then just repeat when the next shiny new blender comes along.......

What did he come back with?
He was actually pretty good with it. He went on to tell how it always annoys him when people confuse him with Carl Baron, being mistaken at airports etc, to the point now that when people come up and say "Carl, can I get your autograph" he signs it.

To be honest, that infuriated me more, I thought I was the clever one who had come up with the comparison but sadly it appeared I was a few years late on that one.

Well as I said it needs 2 years before an assessment.

But right now what you can take is they look to be exactly the players we picked up - injured, inconsistent and not best 22.
