We traded this year's 2nd rounder for Hampton right?

So in totality we are trading JL out for Hampton and an upgrade on this year's 2nd rounder? That could be a great deal. Am I way off?
Not to mention a bit of salary cap relief if Lyons was after becoming the new 400kay, 4 years at $400k is massive for him.

Not happy with this at all unless we've got better mids coming in. Otherwise it makes no sense. We've had this guy on our list for 6 years. He's had a good year and we are going to trade him for pick ******* 29?

A pick that might not even play a game and will be years away before contributing.

What the ****.

I love the bloke and don't want to lose him, but he's probably the most "expendable" bloke we have in the midfield 22 (not counting Thompson because he's not worth anything going out in trade). But if that is the case and he's being sent out then we'll really need some good quality midfielders coming back into the side.

So if that's true and he's off to North, that'll give us 14 and 30 to play with in a trade, if what we got for Danger is market rate, then adding CEY to that pile should net a very high quality midfielder.

Can someone shoot me down? Because I think this deal is quite good and would rather be disappointed sooner than later.

Could be,

Out:
JL
AFC 2016 2ND ROUNDER (potentially finishing 1st this year :) )

In:
Hampton
NMFC 2016 2ND ROUNDER (finished 8th)

Would have preferred the Blues 2nd rounder, but Im sure the Crows have their sights set on some deal?
At least if this is a done deal we have 29. We could be arguing with Carlton for a month and get pick 23 etc. Rather have what we have now so we can then do with it what we want which may include your Rockliff idea.

1st and 2nd rounders to the Lions for Rocky?
But in saying that I think player/s + 1st

Are there actually any whispers on CEY? Would be plenty that have come knocking surely

I know our clubs have had a good trade relationship recently, I'm sure we can work something out
It's mostly just assumptions that he'll look elsewhere. Sniffed around a bit last year, but signed a 2 year deal, still couldn't get a consistent gig in the midfield despite some good SANFL form, but he's contracted, so I imagine the deal will need to be decent to consider it, especially if Thommo retires. He'll still have a lot of value as a backup for us next year.

It's shit.

Effectively we've lost a starting 22 player for a player who hasn't played a game for us yet and a slight upgrade on our second.

Besides our midfield is our weakness and Hampton is being groomed off half back.

Sorry we have a trade embargo with Richmond to protect ourselves from ourselves.

We are to Richmond what Carlton is to us.

Yes it was what I was saying before pick 14 and 29 and maybe CEY for steak knives could land us Rocky.

Interesting risk taken.

Being from Adelaide he's probably prepared to take unders to stick around, 175K or so. Could see a club offering double that and give him game time to move him. Could see Gold Coast, Fremantle and us having a crack. Gold Coast have a bunch of picks in the 20's that might entice you.

Do you shoot early in the bedroom too?

Calm down man. Sit back and watch the whole movie and then give your critique.

Still think we are eyeing off Menzel or Hampton for that next midfield spot (with a 2017 full pre season).

Don't forget these list managers trade accordingly for 2-3 years down the track, not for next year only (2016), they were never a chance of a midfield spot this year.
Menzel wasn't drafted in to play primarily as a forward, he will most likely take Douglas's spot next year(fwd 70% & midfield bursts 30%), while Dougy takes JL's midfield minutes.
Rockliff for Thommo.

If we've already got a name lined up, like Rocky, then it's a move i'd make 10/10 times.

If we're just going to market with $50 in our wallets and hoping we can find a bargain, then it's a huge risk that we come back with nothing but an old lamp and a couple of potted plants instead of something good.
