Yes that right, But I am hoping that GWS, GC, Bris and Syd, use the early picks on Academy kids leaving us to compete with what left of the Vic, SA and WA kids.
Pick 35 could put a Scharenberg, Graham in our reach. those 4 clubs have 13 picks before 35. and will need to use a few for points.
Intriguing that Scharenberg has dropped so far down the list on the back of no 'x-factor' or 'obvious weapons'. Pure footballer, you'd put bank on him playing 200+ quality games.

I certainly don't think the Lyons deal everyone seems to be counting on is actually happening (you don't decide on contracts with rival clubs while you're playing in a finals series) but I'd take that swap.

I'd give him $1.1 million over 8 years, plus two first round draft picks and a second
That's not enough: only 130-140K p.a.! :)

But, seriously, what you suggest would probably ruin our team, unbalancing the salaries like Port and result in shedding much more than Lyons. Anything we do should keep morale and the team approach. However, I'm still waiting for Boyd's salary to ruin the Bulldogs!

Lots of lols at the people who didnt think the Bulldogs talent is top of the food chain.
I think that the Bulldogs performance is based largely on massive teamwork, grit, and excellent coaching to what's available
(as much as I can't stand their flog of a coach).
Hawthorn's pure talent looked superior to me, but everything else was inferior.

Got to have the cattle. They are every chance to win the flag. To think either GWS or WB will be in the grand final is crazy.

The next top 4 powerhouses, gws and the doggies.. hopefully we're the other team. Hawks and Geelong are done very soon, once that Geelong backline retire they are absolutely ******.

We won't be a powerhouse until we find two more quality mids.

Best 3rd year player since Judd (2004) easily!

Judd won his first Brownlow in his 3rd year of AFL football, unbelievable really.
Absolutely, I think although he is remembered as a great he is still underrated. He was a freak, fast, hard amazing skills and really redefined the AFL midfielder. He was the Sam Newman, Peter Daicos and Matthew Scarlett of the midfield in terms of changing the game forever. Never forget his brisbane game in 2003, his second year of AFL kicking 5 ridiculous goals in the first half. Freak! Brain fade suspensions and late injuries make people forget just how amazingly good he was in his prime.

Bulldogs are the inverse of us, powerful, high talent midfield, but a really pedestrian forward line outside of Stringer, and an ok defence that is better against smalls than talls.

Which is where we're both short of GWS, because they have that high talent on every line, forward, middle, and back.

Man what wouldn't I give for Bontempelli. A superstar at the age of 20. Scary good this kid!
Yep, the second coming of Koutafidis if ever there was one. Has that ability to make opposition mids just look stupid and just dominate the midfield.

Rockliff's not going to help that
Which has nothing to do with what I said. Take the Rockliff rumour with a grain of salt because until he is announced as an Adelaide player, I just don't see it happening. What I do see is a bunch of players in the magoos this year who have pace and they have been left in the magoos to work on their tanks, work on two way running and work on their tackling.

It seems no coincidence to me that this year, Grigg didn't get close to a look in, CEY two games and they are looking to freeze out a couple of slow mids with good hands who played all year. There is a change coming to this club and it looks like Pykey has watched Top Gun and feels a need for speed.

On Pykey, we should get him to do the trades this year and with each trade we could throw in a dog because we all know Pykeys throw a dog in with each deal

I know it's a pipe dream, but I think Rockliff fits our model in that we could potentially replace Thommo and Lyons with Rockliff as that 4 key inside mid, who also happens to have a strong outside game. Essentially the role Danger would be playing.

Sloane, Crouch x2 and Rockliff as the midfield grunt, surrounded by the likes of Smith, Seedsman, Atkins, Milera, Laird, Hampton, Menzel feeding the ball forward with pace and precision. I suspect that's the model were working towards.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like Rocky in the side, really rate him but the last two matches from the Bullies and the game from GWS shows the value of a really quick team. The amount of smothers that the Bullies got tonight turned that match, I get the idea we are missing a chance by backing Thommo in this finals series. We might beat Sydney, might beat Geelong but we are going to be over run by the other two teams

Yep, they have plenty of good players but that's a natural consequence of having so many top 5/6 draft picks or Father/Son picks. Pretty good leg up they've received there. I mean, they've done well to get the other talent around them but without that core guns from the high picks, their other good players wouldn't play so well.

Yes, they're clearly looking for a replacement for Thommo / Danger's grunt at stoppages. Speed can still be continued to be added.

Dogs have their share of slowish/average paced mids like Bont for example isn't fast at all but he has the skill where it doesn't show.

They've got plenty of outside runners which we built on last off-season, it's just a matter of bringing them into the side.

Retire : Jenchy, VB, Thompson
Delist : Lowden, Shaw, Grigg, Ramsey
Free Agency : Henderson
Trade : Lyons, CEY, Mackay (for picks 30,45,55)

Go into the draft with picks 15, 30, 45, 52, 55 - Draft midfielders with first two picks, jarman with last and the others one whatever the best available is..

I think our side is pretty well balanced got great prospects back and forward coming through with the likes of Doedee, Dear, ROB, Beech, Wigg, Knight, Greenwood, Keath, Menzel and gore (After our best 22 - which this year proved is VERY good) so we have little to worry about right now..
