They haven't been attacking the club universally, they've been commenting on things I believe we can do better. my posts are contradictory because that's how a debate works. If I agree with a post I chuck a like on it and move on, I don't feel the need to repeat what was said.

The club is doing a lot of things right, but there isn't much discussion in them because most people know we're doing them right.

I'm not really interested in participating in a crows circle-jerk, I'm interested in debating how we go from good to great.
I think you debate points well mate, enjoy your contribution to the board.

Yeah can't believe we only won 16 games with such shit standards. Giants only won 16 games too, are they not practicing elite standards?
Now now BACCS its quite simple. We've been very good. But with elite standards guys like Dmac and Douglas, even Thommo would be out the side and we'd be even better

Mate you need to stop hiding behind the number of wins. If Mackay was in the Brisbane team and put in exactly the same performance would you be claiming he was operating to elite standards?
But we aren't Brisbane and won 3 games for the year. I'm not hiding behind number of wins, it's a fact and pretty damning to people preaching we don't practice elite standards.

I think we, as a club, are ASPIRING to elite standards, however I believe there are players on the list (and staff members) not living up to the elite standards expectations and letting the club down, would you agree?

Of course you can always get better, not disputing that. I don't want Mackay in the team either, and that's why Seed's injury is so frustrating because I think he'd be in there now for Mackay. I don't think it's the difference in us winning the flag this year though.

Clearly Thommo brings more than just his performance on the field which is why they find it hard to drop him. Again, I agree we need to move past Thommo next season to continue building as a club. Same with Dougie.

I agree there are still some sub standard players getting regular games, but I strongly believe they are being phased out and next year guys like Menzel, Seed, Knight and Hampton will be in those spots on a far more regular basis.

I hope you are correct.

We had a much more traditional forward set up that I believe was superior to what we're trying to do now in big games.
How'd that game plan go in the big game semi final last year? We copped a flogging

I don't think our game plan this year is faultless (no ones is) but our speed of ball movement and ability to score are a lot better this year (have had 2 years of course since Walsh wanted to focus more on skills)

Will wait to see how we go in finals before i declare this game plan inferior to last year's

Don't forget that this year has built upon the foundation established last year where were recovering from being terrible. If we did exactly the same thing this year as last year we would have a better result thanks to more experience in several key players and the standards that had been set last year.

I agree I like our faster ball movement this year, I think this has primarily been driven by changes in our defensive game plan. I actually like our back half game plan a lot more this year. It's the forward line from last year I prefer. Midfield it's impossible to judge given the gaping void between what the two had to work with cattle wise.

it's interesting you bring up Walsh wanting to focus on skills because I think skills is definitely an area we've fallen off slightly this year.

I think our goal kicking has been average a few times, but due to the nature of our game plan, isn't hasn't been found wanting too often

I don't agree our skills have fallen off, i would say they're slightly better. But maybe we should have this discussion in a thread more suited, as this is about trades etc :)

It's all connected though. I'm not sure if we could just switch our forward game out to what we did last year and have the thing work as a whole. We could tweak it maybe so it resembled something like last year.

I'm sure the club believes it is being ruthless and striving to reach elite standards in every aspect but it still gets down to us valuing things that aren't valuable.

A few notable players excel at things that aren't of any consequence to winning/losing matches but are held dear by the club.

This whole thing reminds me of a Pavlich, Gibbs, Neale stay put but pump up the contract situation.

Yeah and nothing anywhere with any footage. Contested kings with big bodies and elite pace don't not go first round. There has to be more
Edit : 1990crow

As you can see from this article below Ronke hasn't followed the traditional path to an AFL list hence why he's only come on the radar of late.

Standing up big time in the Finals for the Calder Cannons in a team getting flogged by the Chargers.

Perhaps the Crows don't want to offer up their first rounder this draft and have no other currency to get the trade done. Plus, Rockliff is contracted for next season anyway, so might be easier to do the deal next year.
I'm sure this years 1st round would be available for the right deal .......we have a very young list in the window, so we can afford to ......if we were rebuilding or aging, absolutely no to the trading of first round

If we trade our first rounder, our next pick won't be until the third round, unless we get something in between in a trade for Hendo or CEY.
