Originally we were talking to Craig Vosso - the highly respected Football Manager at west Coast - as a direct replacement.

Fagan was then looking at a re-structuring of duties, with Justin Reid taking over List Management out of Noble's duties, with the role becoming more involved in the day to day football activities - hence the talks with Sumich.

If Sumich is out of the running , then we might well revert to Vosso He could certainly do the job, and Pyke and he have a good relationship.

Depends how much they now want the role to be of a football advisory role to Pyke, rather than the previous traditional Football Manager's role.
Vosso had already taken himself out of ongoing discussions was my understanding?

Poster on our board being told from someone within our club that the discussion at the moment is Gibbs and #24 for Lyons and #13. I personally think it's probably leaning your way as a great trade, but not something I would spit the dummy over. IMO, it should be Gibbs and our third pick for Lyons and 13.

Not a 'done deal' at all - just apparently where the discussions are at for the moment. Take with as much salt as required for taste.
I could live with Gibbs+24 -> Lyons+13

I'm sure I read somewhere this week or last that we had looked at vozzo but he decided not to move from west coast? I'm sure it was quoted or something like that but seemed it was he and not sumich we were after but he declined.. Interesting with what they do here now anyway.
Has Sumich pulled out?

Guys I hate be the bearer of "bad news" again but like I have said a month ago, we have no interest in Rockliff and I would be shocked if we did trade for him.

Having said that, we seem to be balls deep into trying to get Gibbs. I think Gibbs would actually be a better fit for us, even though he is a year or so older.
Where is your "bad news" coming from? Opinion or source?

When did Menzel ever become a mid? Doesn't have the tank or the heart.
You misunderstood what I was implying. Douglas and Lyons play more of a high-half forward/rotating mid role.

The initial question was if we were turfing Douglas, Lyons, Thompson and Mackay, who will replace them.
Rockliff and Gibbs were implied in the post. You would assume they replace Thompson and probably Lyons.

Replace Douglas with Menzel - again that high-half forward/rotating mid, and Milera for Mackay is a no-brainer.

I like his trade proposal of

Possible Trade Scenarios:

  • Brisbane trade Tom Rockliff and their third round pick (47) for Brown and Cam Ellis Yolman

Uh oh

Wigg gets the dreaded 1 year deal
Not sure what to read into that. It COULD be a "Dead Man Walking" contract, similar to the ones which LJ, Martin and Grigg all received.

However, it could be due to the ongoing confusion over the CBA, with the AFL & AFLPA still not having come to any agreement. Apparently an interim Salary Cap has been announced for 2017, but anything beyond that is completely unknown. The club could have given him a 12-month contract (with similar contracts likely to follow for other players still uncontracted), while they wait for the mess to be sorted out at the higher levels.

Holy Cow, i just realised Ben Jarman in available in this year's draft

I've always thought it was next year's

COME ON YOU MOTHERgooseS BRING THAT BABY HOME*

If we don't pick him, you know he will become a star somewhere else - like, say, HAWTHORN - c'mon guys, do it

* EDIT: as in, if Ben still has to make a selection, we should have been throwing the kitchen sink at him and his old man.
No, we shouldnt.
He is not that good, guaranteed he wont be a gun.
