No he wasn't ......that's peoples interpretation

Dangerfield was recruited as a HBF ......yes indeed, where they play at U18 level is irrelevant

Ben Ainsworth has predominantly played as a small forward the last two years ......will go top 5 in this draft .....do you think he's being drafted as a small forward or a midfielder? ......midfielder, as clubs DO NOT use a top 5 pick on a FP

Danger was recruited to be a mid. He played on Sloane as a junior.

The amount of trade hypotheticals that look like this are staggering: Crap + Crap + Pick 35 = A grade player.

If you're bringing in Rocky or Gibbs you are trading at a minimum a first round pick. And with our first pick pretty average it'd probably take something more than that.

Now with our window now I'm not against swapping our first this year or next for someone that can take us to the next level but it's fanciful to think we can bring in an A grade by swapping a player like Lyons and 2nd rounders.
What we need will cost both first rounders (2016 and 2017) plus players. And probably not just fringe excess and Lyons. If we could trade Lynch or Smith plus picks for real A grade mids I'd be all over that. At the end of the day Lynch and Smith are bolt ons. Engine room wins flags.

Can someone refresh me as to the picks you're allowed to trade in both the current year and future?

Like I seem to recall you not being able to trade your first and second round future picks or am I wrong? Given it hasn't been mentioned, I assume we'd have no problems trading our first this year (given we've traded our second away already) and then next years first?

Dangerfield played as a HBF .....why do you think he went where he did in the draft

All potential AFL footballers play onball at juniors .......at the U18 level and in championships, both Sloane and Dangerfield played Half Back .....you can say no, but thems the facts

Well, welcome to the board ......hope the rest of your short posting history is as inciteful as this marvelous attempt
While I have been lurking big footy for a fair while, it is very apparent from your post history that quantity does not equal quality.
Go be patronizing somewhere else.

"
AFL general counsel Andrew Dillon said the following rules would govern trading of future draft picks:

- Clubs can trade one year in the future only.

- Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks.

- If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds."

Hard to know whether it's because there was nothing here in the first place or if there's just been nothing to report and with the GF focus has been elsewhere.

Last year there was some early gods re Menzel, then nothing until the Friday of the first week of trade week I think. His manager I think was quoted early in trade week as saying there was no truth to the rumour as well.

From memory there was a fair bit re Hampton early, then things went kinda quiet for a while, but it was treated as though it was a bit of a fait accompli.

Things will start to clear up late this week/early next week.
Hampton nominated us fairly early on and wasn't really mentioned up until the day the trade was confirmed. The Menzel trade was deemed '100% not going to happen' but everything literally turned in the space of one day.

Basically, it just suggests that some things can occur very quickly after little talk. The last Rockcliff rumours were posted just under a week ago.

So of the teams with a pick after our pick 13, who would want to give up their 1st round pick for CEY and a pick 20-30?
They all have pretty good midfields and certainly wouldn't want to offload their 1st rounder.
If we get a pick of 25-30 for Lyons and then can snare another similar pick by offloading Mackay, CEY etc. Then we trade the 2 picks in the 20s for GWS pick 15 or 16 and maybe they can throw us back a pick in the 40s. We just have to get creative to try and get good talent in without sacrificing too much.

If danger tagged Sloane, how were they both playing hbf?

Suggest you never watched the U18 Championships ....and simply referring to an article you remember ....that may have happened at junior junior level, but not at the U18 draft year and at the Championships

U18 Champs is like 3 games. What about the rest of the TAC Cup? Fair amount more games there.
If your going to counter my argument, which are factual ......then gather your own facts, don't throw out unsubstantiated generalizations as facts .....its frankly infuriating and insulting

Doedee a mid?

As much as it will be annoying to have WW crowing about a win, my goodness I hope it happens.

I will feel much more comfortable about spending that first on him than if he ends up just battling Cheney for a spot
The problem is the only place Doedee has been referrred to as a mid is Wayne's imagination.

I'd love him to be, he could be anything. But recruited as a defender.

What interest could we have in trading in some role players? (I don't mean D&D either). We keep talking about the big names, what about some lesser known names that can come in and fill a role and just get the job done?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They are the three expendables imo. Lyons, CEY and Mackay where we could easily get solid 2nd rounders for.
