We really should be able to do three way subs...

By this do you mean the following scenario:

Having a RUC/FWD, a MID/RUC, and a MID/FWD, and not being able to rotate the 3?

I just came on here to try and find out if the above is possible... I can't find a way!

its not possible bud

Quick noobie question..

I keep seeing people mention keeping libba in the mids on the bench as a m9, how does this benefit your team? Is there some loophole? Or is it simply to cover the loss if someone is injured/rested?

Guns traditionally have been rested during sc finals in prep for afl finals.
A good m9 is critical

Pretty low, SC is based off actual time spent in an area. AFL... no idea. Would not have predicted Hanley spending a lot of time behind the ball based off the eye test unless it's just because the ball is always in our defensive 50.

You'd think they would use the same sort of concept in AF as they do in SC, but who knows.

I seem to recall Dal Santo & Mundy getting Def/Mid status for AF in mid-2015, but weren't given that in SC 2016.

Under that train of thought there would be at least 30 Lions available in DEF next year.. :(

Luckily Fyfe is out and Freo no chance of finals. Normally a good m10 is critical.

General strategy question (is this the right thread?):

My aim is to have decent d6/7, m8/9, f6/7 and non playing d8, m11, f8 with late byes. That way can loophole up a storm.

I'm prioritising this over having stronger d6, m8, f6 but weaker d7, m9 and f7.

Is this a good strategy from experience?

I'm talking purely about league finals here, not overall and not regular season.

You're much much better off just holding trades if you're aiming for finals than trying to stuff around with or optimize fringe players. If keeper X is injured in week 1 of finals you can use your 80 point sub, or you can trade the injured/rested player straight to another 100+ player.

My strategy revolves around saving trades. Eg keeping Tippa, Kerridge to be f7, d7.

I just didn't know if this was a standard league win strategy or not, and if it is a good one.

Most people going for overall seem to want to want to have stronger onfield teams and weaker benches.

Going into the finals, the team that wins is about 30% luck, 40% strength of team at the start of finals, and 30% who has enough trades to do one or two each week. Numbers there are mainly an educated guess.

I've played lots of DT, but I wasnt sure if the loophole strategy I outlined is ever an aim of others. Eg line up non-playing rookies with late byes (Geelong and Essendon being the best options this year) to hopefully get quality loopholes on all lines.

Thanks for the responses by the way.
