It's not enough they take in a gazillion dollars with their shit pokies, you feel the bed to gouge campaigners in the sports bar. Just reading up on the scoring, something that piqued my interest:

"Champion Data will award zero points for a kick that travels less than 40 meters to a contest."

Surely that can't be right? If you kick the ball 30m to your forward inside 50 in a 1v1 contest surely you get a point for that?

I always thought that if the kick was effective, it would always score points, whether it's a chip sideways kick or a kick to a contest. Obviously the points would be weighted differently depending on the impact though.

I remember reading this.

Pretty simple. Kick it to a pack less than 40m gained is usless in todays game and often leads to a turnover goal or I50. Eagles web a great example of this. Travels to a pack along the wing but over 40m then it was of some benefit to your team as long as it's to a contest and killed and not marked by the opposition.

The under 40m kicks that are marked by a team mate or are put in front of a team mate in space will still be considered effective as they didn't go to a contest and get killed, turned into a ball up, knocked OOB etc.

It really only covers the kick along the lines to a pack senario. But the new deliberate OOB rule pretty much stops that anyway IMO.
