Hmm not good - I think the quad surgery is probably a bit different to the first two so I'm happy to glance over it. But the other two are still very serious.

I just read this about Simpson at the end of an article about GHS:
Ruckman Dawson Simpson has been battling a shoulder complaint and there had been speculation that he may miss the rest of the season.
Scott denied those claims, saying he would be fit to play within the next three weeks, but acknowledged it was likely Simpson would need to have his shoulder surgically repaired at the end of 2015.
"It's not our expectation that we wouldn't see him for the rest of the year," Scott said.
"The likelihood is that at some stage in the long-term he'll need to have that (shoulder) looked at."
I'm not sure of Simpson's contract status but I seem to recall people saying he is out of contract at the end of this season - I know we have put a lot of years into him and it would be great to see him come good, but after all the back surgery if he is now to miss the rest of the season (speculation but could be right) and have a delayed start to the pre-season due to more surgery, even if this is on his shoulder - shouldn't the club really start to question his value and if he will ever be right to play through a whole season? I'm too lazy to look it up, but when was the last time Simpson even played more than 15 games of AFL &/or VFL in one season and what is the most number of games he has played in a season?

Surely further surgery to any part of his body has to raise of questions of delisting rather than a new contract.

When I first heard Henderson's name mentioned I though he could be a good get, but the raw numbers suggest he is somewhat injury prone, having missed 26 of the last 100 games. Hardly in Josh Cowan's league, but a quick search reveals the following:

- hip surgery prior to 2011,
- groin surgery in 2012
- quad surgery prior 2014.

Would rather we didn't go there.
Its something we should be strong on but picking up play now players bring baggage. At 25 not that old , its just the K's on the clock. On one thread here it show a 2011 version and he looks good but 2011 is light years ago... Menzel would have looked good then. Still , I doubt he looks as good atm as he could in our side. A good indication is the vibe on the Cralton board , a bit like there was plenty of positive vibe about Stanley. Plenty were unhappy to see him go.
Carltin Vibe is very much wonder why trade him , wanting heaps for him , grabbing Hawkins etc , etc. To me he id not looked on as a Vardy on Cowan .

My only gripe is he should be FA. He is the right age and he shouldn't really cost us anything .

Unrestricted free agent at end of this year, and prob time to find a new home. Along with McIntosh, need to clean out ruck stocks and find something big bodied and half way reliable. With all the LTIs on our list, can't carry anymore.

At this stage I'd almost be happy if they used our first 3 picks on ruckman - just get the best available bite the bullet worst case scenario you have 3 gun rucks and you end up trading one.

Have you seen our midfield? That plan would surely be predicated on getting Danger and possibly Selwood too, otherwise there's no way our first pick will be a ruck...

Sure whatever, but we have Mr. G, The Cock and K.D. in the wings - I'm just sick of it - it's been a big problem for 5 seasons now and it can't continue on like this.

Depends on who you ask, some say we need KPD desperately, then there's mids, and rucks. I don't think we'll be able to fill all holes this off season. I understand the yearning for a ruck, I'd trade for one as opposed to drafting one, either that or draft one or two of them late in the draft.

I know we won't be able to fill all the holes that's why instead of picking 1 KPD 1 ruck etc etc. I'd just load up in this draft - our record at trading for rucks hasn't exactly been good either...

A two year process to 'completely' fill all holes. 2015 - free agency (x 2 midfielders), prob trade 1st rd pick+ for a key position defender, maybe even trade another pick for a tallish running half back flanker, and take a look at potential delisted or mature age rucks available. 2016 - focus likely to turn back to drafting and far less FA or trading by comparison.

Yes I understand we've had a checkered history of late at trading for rucks, our problem has been trading for ones who're injury prone. That said we've also had a checkered recent history with drafting them too. Vardy is a forward/ruck, injured. Ditto Simpson. We sadly need to face it that the only really good decision we've made with a ruck in a while was Ottens. We've dicked around with Blake and West and Simpson and Hmac and Mumford and Orren and I dare say we've made an error in judgement with each of them in one way or another

You might be right, we may draft a ruck, we may even draft a ruck with our first available pick. With around 19 players at last count over 190cm tall I just doubt highly we'll bring in 3 in one year.

Ok, so how many years has Simpson been on the list? How many games?

If he's gone for the rest of the season, surely delisting for a rookie spot is lucky for him. I know our ruck stocks are slim, but if we continue to carry dead weight in the only position they can play, we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

We can't carry two or three from the one position, who are perennially injured.

It's tad amount to crippling one's self, hopefully we give ourselves a chance by carring minimum LTI's next year, needs fixing.

This is Simpson's 8th season on the senior list (drafted in 2007). He has played 27 senior games so far. The most he's ever managed in one year was 13 last season. Really like the big guy, but just can't see him being kept. Even with McIntosh pulling the pin at the end of the season.
