2016 has been a good year for music

I actually think 2016 has been pretty terrible for music. Especially Hottest 100 wise. What passes as a popular song in 2016 is really boring. And anything more interesting in the H100 will be rare because they're just few and fair between. Again we will have a top 100 clogged with safe choices as voters these days seem to prefer non challenging interchangeable background music to any thing exciting.

Has Maggie Rogers really been getting airplay? Alaska is a great song so I hope it poles. It's in a similar vain to a lot of the stuff chicks generally vote for so I'd like to see it pole.

I never got Big Scary despite people telling me I'd like them, but The Opposite Of Us is a song I used to love hearing come on at work.

Little Lion Man was a far from safe or mainstream choice when it topped the chart; folk music, swear words at the heart of the chorus. It was actually a classic Hottest 100 number one that became popular after appearing on JJJ. I know it's popular to hate Mumford & Sons now, but they don't deserve to be mentioned in the same bland category as Riptide or just utter shit that was Thrift Shop.

Also, Knights of Cydonia was a great number one.

Disappointing year in music for me. Never be like you should be number one, but real chance for Hilltops (1955) and Illy (papercuts) to get a number 1.
