Doesn't start for a couple of days but I thought I would get the thread open for what is the best non slam tournament for the year. Draws and other info will be posted later.
 
Most important is Masha's presser. That's going to be interesting.

- Retiring?
- Surgery?
- Pregnant?
- Sabbatical?
- Business Venture?
- Donald Trump related?
- Drugs related?

Ahh it will be an anti-climax.

Large number of Aussies in the qualifiers but looks like none of them have made it through; Barton, Smith, Reid and Mitchell all beaten this morning and Wolfe beaten in the women's qualies yesterday.

So Nick is playing. Oh this is going to be fun.

Del Potro gets Berdych in the 2nd round. Could be very fun to watch.

Aussies:
Millman vs. qualifier
Groth vs. Mayer
Tomic vs. Ram/Qualifier (Raonic possible 3rd round)
Kyrgios vs. Chung/Ramos-Vinalos (monfils possible 3rd round)

Tomic having to play Ram again possibly.... Raonic is coming in with a question mark with an injury so we'll wait and see how that comes out. Interested to see if Chung could do anything against Nick and then obivously the matchuo with Monfils could provide lulz. Hopefully Millman can contiune the good form and Groth can't beat me left handed at the moment so he isn't beating Mayer.

Stosur vs. Hercog/Wickmayer (Muguruza possible 3rd round)
Gavrilova vs. Robson/Ryrbaikova (Bencic possible 3rd round)

Sam I just simply try and not predict anymore, Gav also depends on her form.


Other notes, Serena and Venus are here for the first time together since the incident. Del Potro has a qualifier first up with berdych a possible 2nd rounder.

Don't agree, prefer the Rome and Monte Carlo masters series tournaments. But this is still very good.

This is such an interesting time in tennis. So many young guys are starting to have better results and I think this year we we will see some surprises in MS tournaments as to who make quartets and semis. How have Novak and Andy recovered from their grueling Davis cup weekends? Stan has had average results here, who knows with Rafa, thiem is in some good form. Really hoping nick has overcome his back issue that he had against wawrinka a couple of weeks back and has a strong tournament to help push up his ranking. How will the young guys go in coric, tiafoe, zverev and Fritz?

Women's side. No idea and how can you predict it? Such an open tournament.

Tiafoe is destroying Fritz so far. Fritz can't get a look in on Tiafoe's serve

That result surprised me today what I have seen of both I thought it would be the other way around.

Millman's match last on Stadium 4 tomorrow and with this awesome coverage there will be streams.

Tiafoe is now 4-0 over Fritz H2H including juniors. Only saw bits of the first but he was all over him.

Doesn't hurt to get a reality check now and then for Fritz. Even better that it's a fellow, young compatriot. Don't know if they are friends but it would be great if they can spur each other on to great heights.
