Injury 2016 Injury Updates

In: Thompson, McGovern, Henderson
Out: Douglas, Seedsman, unlucky CEY
Funny, I get a completely different reading from that media release:
IN: Thompson
OUT: Seedsman

Emergency: McGovern, Henderson, Milera

CEY gets another crack, while McGovern gets another rest (or maybe a run in the SANFL).

Not unhappy with your version, though I'd much rather have Douglas in and Henderson out.

So (in simple terms) CEY is playing McGovern's role (plus a bit of midfield) and Mackay is in Seedsman's role. Thompson is playing his usual position.

Perhaps we should release the gov off the seed's wing?

Great to see Riley Knight return on the weekend after about 3 months on the sideline. Apparently did well in his first game back.

Injury Update August 15

Injured Players
Player | Injury | Since | Expected Length | Expected Return
\Sam Jacobs|Ankle|Round 19|Test|Round 22
\Paul Seedsman|Corked buttock|Round 20|Test|Round 22
\Keenan Ramsey|Ankle|Round 19|1 Week|Round 23
\Luke Lowden|Ankle|Round 21|Assess|TBA
\Sam Shaw|Concussion Symptoms|Round 21 Training|TBA|TBA

Unfortunately it looks like Shaw, with his recurring concussion symptoms, might be done in the AFL system

Jacobs should be back in you'd think

Seeds probably back into the magoos

Really unfortunate way for Shaw to go out if this is it. But needs to look after long term health

Burton said in the injury report that Seed wasn't progressing as well as they had hoped. Sounds like he could miss another week

Was just about to post this. Interesting he hasn't retired. Club must seriously rate him to be keeping him on this long.

The club probably doesn't want to force an injured player to retire. It would be entirely Shaw's decision given he is contracted for next year

With all the retirements happening right now, why the hell hasn't VB announced his retirement yet?
Maybe waiting for next week? I think the club wants to focus on the Showdown this week. Happy to announce Brad Crouch re-signing before an away game against Freo, but the Showdown is something they don't want to be distracted from. Maybe..

Most blokes retiring are actually good enough to play a farewell game at AFL level (Trent West the obvious exception). VB isn't good enough to make the best players at SANFL level. A quiet press conference in October is all that's required here.

To be fair, he's only played 1 game since missing 2 months with a plantar fascia injury. He was regularly in our best SANFL players pre-injury.

Poor VB, he was on the decline before the Achilles when he was about 27 years old, but that achillies injury gave him no hope in hell of returning to his best.

Roughead did his achillies too yet never really lost his agility, wonder if VB's was a little more severe, if that's even possible.

Yeah nah, he wasn't regularly in our best players.
He never has an opponent in the sanfl.

He was one of our best players in rounds 2, 3, 6 and 11.

In R7 he had limited game time - it was a Sunday game, the senior team were playing the following Friday, and they wanted him to be fresh in case he was required. From memory, Lyons was also time-managed for that game. He was clearly one of our best players during the (limited) time he did spend on the ground (yes, I got to watch that game on TV).

That just leaves R5 and R14 - and he was injured during the R14 match.

That's 5 of 6 completed games where he was one of our best players, so yes, I'd call that "regular".

A keen eye from Canberra.

Interesting, given that the AFL Rules document states that the LTI cut-off is "2.00pm on the Thursday following Round 18". Given that we're now up to R22, the window should have closed a month ago.

Lumumba just went on Melbourne's LTI as well, must have been a rule change
