Cloke is finding himself on the outer a bit. To be voted out of the leadership group for lack of effort is pretty damning if you ask me.
But we don't actually know he "was voted out". He may well have decided not to stand for a position, which kind of kills off the rest of your assertion

Just a minor correction PicaBoo he wasn't voted out more he wasn't voted in. One thing that is certain is that he hasn't "decided not to stand for a position"...

The implication from the players was that he didn't want to put in the effort.

The assumption that he didn't run, could also be explained as him realising his chances. Anyway, my comment was based Snells comment. If you don' t agree with it, all happy.
Let's not have last years bitch fights again whose inside info is correct or legit or whatever.

Soz. The semantics of "voted out" vs "not voted in" create a different angle and made it look worse then I intended. He is our key fwd and senior player That he was in the group and didn't get back in , does raise some questions.

I'm not sure what to think about Caff in the group.
It will be really testing for him as a "leader", when he needs to remain positive if he isn't in the best 22, which IMO i don't see him in it at all.

Even if he isn't playing, he doesn't look like the type of guy that will see this get in the way of what he provides off the field.

Some players are revered in the playing group even if they are average players, did you know he invited EVERY single player on the list to his engagement party? He didn't have to invite players who have been at the club for 3 months to such a personal party, yet he did. Clearly he loves and breaths the Collingwood footy club, instead of hesitation, supporters should get right around him!

That's a classy thing to do. :) He's a good egg, isn't he?

 Or he's very chuffed with his beloved :D and doesn't mind everyone knowing

I think some are being a bit harsh on Travis.
Granted, last year he was down, but he routinely gets two plus dragging on him, doesn't get great delivery at all times, provides the big target all the time AND lacks support of another big forward (Reid could assist here as an example).
Am confident he will knuckle down and kick 66 plus goals this year

One of them would be me. And I admit that he is not getting the best chances to shine. But it was not only last year. Remember how it began with reports he had been working hard on kicking skills.
Can't remember which game it was , Leigh Matthews was commentating that his liability on even the easiest set shot would cost us a match one day. And more then 1 I reckon.
Simply not good enough for the contract he is on and the position he plays in.

Not to fussed about Trav not being in the leadership group. Non-issue if you ask me.
Its not like he was dropped as captain or anything. Trav like Swan has never really been seen as much of a "leader", and was probably in the leadership group because of age more than anything and the lack of experience in the rest of the group. Him not being voted is just a sign that others around him are stepping up.

We should rather be talking about what this means for Adams - and that the rest of the playing group must be very impressed with what he provides the club.
Plus Caff - and what he provides off-field (and more likely at VFL this year rather than back in AFL, though will get opportunities) - and another sign of how highly the club views him.

Pretty damning. Last year he put in some pretty limp efforts. That's the first time I remember thinking that about Cloke. Normally you think beast. The goal kicking tally was a bit deceptive. Hopefully it lights a fire and we see him return to his best.

Just want Clokey to concentrate on his footy. Nothing too complicated please. If his management is pushing to open contract discussions again, then don't let it be an ongoing distraction like 2012. That really marred Bucks' first year as coach and gave David Cloke a lot of air time.

If you knew what he did off-field I don't think you would say that.

At training though he is one of the hardest working blokes and I'm sure very respected and liked amongst the playing group. Within the 4 walls of the Holden Centre he would be one the younger guys look up to in terms of training standard, and one the older guys talk to about their problems.

However there is no difference between what JT/Keeffe did and what some players who didn't get banned do/have done. Some players may of even been at the same St Kilda festival as JT/Keeffe, partying with them... they just didn't get tested.

It is probably not rationally justifiable, but I always find it hard to look beyond Cloke holding the club to ransom back in 2011, even though he seems to be a likeable bloke and hard worker.

If not being in the leadership allows him to focus on getting back closer to 2011-2013 output (and better justifying his pay packet), maybe it will be a good thing.

Just cause you are not part of the leadership group doesn't mean you can't set an example and be a leader, at the end of the day it's just a title and leaders lead by example not be they have a title next to their name.

Bucks must have him slotted into a defensive forward role, good call

I was just getting the impression the club really seemed to be focusing on him over the last 3 or 4 months. So I had a sneaking suspicion he was going to be one of the new inclusions.

They were doing the same thing with other players before making them part of the leadership group. You'd see a lot more stories about them on the website in the lead up to the announcement.

Hang on a sec...I thought his engagement party was cancelled.

This is pure speculation but I'd guess that Trav might have coveted the title but with it comes responsibilities and duties to lead the young guys and perhaps he wasn't doing that. Just a guess.

Judging by Pendles comments and earlier info, it certainly looks like it.
