Andrejs Everitt, Dillon Viojo-Rainbow, Jason Tutt and Mark Whiley have been delisted from the primary list, while Andrew Gallucci and Billy Gowers have been delisted from the rookie list.

Gallucci and Gowers will continue to train with the team, with the duo having the potential to be re-rookied later this year.

Looking to 2018, it appears LJ, KJ and Cas won't be on the list. Given we haven't traded any KPFs in, I wonder what SOS' strategy is.

If Kerr or Battle are available at 25, would SOS pull the trigger? Fill the holes next year?

Rowe and White will probably be gone by 2018 too.

Spot on and that should be clear.
Could easily be another dozen next year and SOS & Bolton will have their team.

Would think next year unless something drastic happens
Jones, White, Levi, Jacksch, Dale Thomas would be more likely than not to be gone.

Dogs might chase DVR.

Given we've just about cleared the list to the max, why do we still think that contracted players will be discarded?
Had this same argument for months now and if you can't see that it won't happen by now............god help you. :)

Graham likely to have his head on the chopping block and it will all depend on how things go through the draft.
If we think we can get someone better than him in the 80's, then it's a no-brainer.

Seems to me that we'll have to wait until final list lodgements now.
To be fair, we look like we're at risk of dropping below 95% of TPP, so if we see a second DFA we like and want to take 6 picks we might chop Jones.

Weitering is out of contract next year, priority should be to re-sign him to a 5 year deal and front load his contract, should be doing the same with Paddy who are clearly our 'franchise' players of the future.

Forget front-loading for now, we've got a senior core to build, and a conveyor belt of talent we need to cultivate.

We should be working the problem at both ends, which means we'll need dollars to go with picks.

No issue with those potential outs. What's the point of extending the contracts of guys who plainly aren't up to it?

Jaksch has been extremely disappointing (like Watson he lacks the intensity required to play at the top level; which says nothing of his physical development), Liam Jones tries but isn't good enough and Casboult is lucky to have survived this long. He's well short of AFL level in just about every regard and I'd have attempted to trade him last week.

Depends what split we want to go with, to take all our draft picks and upgrade Byrne we may need to cut another player. If we want a DFA, that's another one gone as well.

2017 Senior List: 39 Players

Senior List: Silvagni, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Buckley, Kreuzer, Cripps, McKay, Kerridge, Boekhurst, Lamb, Jones, Docherty, Rowe, Jaksch, Sumner, Plowman, Weitering, Armfield, Cuningham, Curnow, Graham, Phillips, Curnow, Gorringe, Thomas, Casboult, White, Wright [Trade: Marchbank, Pickett, Smedts, Palmer] (Draft: Byrne, #5, #25, #48, #63, #66)

2017 Rookie List: 4 Players
Glass-McKaser, Sheehan (Rookie: Gowers, Rookie #1)

2017 Cat B List: 1 Player
Korcheck

They're the certainties I see (unsure exactly of how Sheehan will work hwever). As it stands, if we take 5 draft selections and upgrade Byrne, and take two Rookie selections, possibly re-rookie-ing Gowers, then we will have ONE list spot still to fill. That could either come from a senior spot, (Pick #70 or a DFA) or it could come as a rookie, just depending on what split we wanted to take.

Should we want to add additional de-listed Free agents, or take picks in the #70 or beyond range, then uncontracted players like Gorringe, White, Buckley and Graham are the ones on the block.

I'm 50/50 on Graham staying.

The modern game is moving away from one-dimensional, one positional Andrew Swallow types but he might be good insurance for a year.
