How is Glass - McCasker travelling in real time? Rookie listed, thought of relatively highly around draft time when picked.

Can he make it? If so does this help relieve any long term concern with Rowe and Jamo's futures?

kid can play just needs some consistent game time. one of the nicest kids you will ever meet as well. he & weitering will be a very good combintaion

i always rate games against better sides higher when looking at a player. after last night i would put a line through walker everitt (trade) jones armfield for the end of the year. ed curnow still worries me against top opposition. love his work rate and effort but gee he can butcher it.

Yes he hid the poor usage well most of the year but it's crept back in

Sumner on the other hand is a ripper

he's showed some real glimpses of talent in the games he's played. seemed to work harder last night and his skills fell away with fatigue. his ball use has really impressed me along with his speed. hope he stays fit and gets a full pre season as he is a genuine top level talent

after the game im confident that weitering cripps plowman byrne sumner kerridge are part of our long term future. i still have a question mark on lamb. works hard and does the team things but really does lack poise and anything special.

add those guys to silvagni charlie g-mac phillips mckay jaksch cuningham sheehan boekhurst graham gallucci plus established players in kruezer murphy gibbs docherty tuohy its a great core to work with. thats at least 22 players. get a marchbank and/or prestia plus another 6-7 draftees and it turns quickly.

plus we have bolton! ;)

Amazing what we see. 38.5% efficiency for Sumner last night with 4 clangers. I too thought of him as a good kick but not last night.

good early but when he got fatigued skills fell away. generally i think his skills are very very good.

4 disposals at 75% in the 1st, 4 disposals at 0% in the 2nd, 1 disposal at 0% in the 3rd and 4 disposals at 50% in the 4th.

The only mids of the reportedly available ones out there that I would be remotely interested in would be Neale and D. Swallow, who in no way has been linked to us. Swallow also has injury concerns so this is a big go slow.
O'Meara hasn't been on the park for so long, he is an impractical risk given what he would cost. Prestia is also a good player, with some significant
injury issues of late. He is smallish and has been blessed by having the taggers go to Ablett and co, therefore inflating his figures a little.

Neale gets his own ball, and while small seems to be able to handle some attention. Surely we will hit the draft though.

I am still in favour of hitting the draft for three midfielders in the top 30 or so picks. I am not seduced by the thoughts of SPS, or even Brodie, or McCluggage, as we will be unlikely to have a top 4 pick. I do not want to draft another tall, as we have plenty developing. There is nothing to gain by taking another under developed young KPP. I see merit in both Tomlinson and Marchbank if they are within our reach, but want those young midfielders to develop.

In a practical sense I see Gallucci as the silk in our pick range, not huge but big enough, trained with us preseason. Like the profile of Simpkin as a forward/mid with pace and precision who can hit the scoreboard.

We need a couple of young bulls, the current rankings suggest Dylan Clarke and Joseph Atley are both good extractors in the second round range. We need a couple of irons in the fire for that role. They are the types we need to add to the dominant Crippa.

There are up to 10 young ruck prospects on the horizon this year, and I firmly believe we need one in the third round or so. Sweet and Goddard have been the highest raters, some chance they slip that far. English, Ladhams, Olango, Maze, Dennis and a few others have some admirers through to rookie range.

On exposed form Northern Blues Kerbatieh would be a good value pick as a forward/mid after missing a gig last year through tank and workrate concerns. Already "in our system".

If we can't snag a Tomlinson or Marchbank (maybe future 2nd rounder would get Tommo), we will need a state league or DFA swingman added to the mis in the draft or as a rookie.

With definite upgrade of Byrne and possibly Sheehan as well, we would have to be looking at 7 plus delistings, retirements or trades off the main list.

More intrigue at season's end:D

Agree with almost everything you're saying. This is not the time for us to chase a big money free agent.
We need to keep building the list by only adding young elite talent, so we get a group of them coming through together.
Hopefully SOS follows the same plan he did at GWS. Hits the draft hard for a few years then adds the finishing touches.
I do think if we do end up with a top 4 pick we won't traded it. SOS will take another key forward or the best available mid.
If it's around the 6-10 range could be used as part of a trade for Caleb Marchbank and a later first rounder back.
So could add Caleb Marchbank to our defence and Jordan Gallucci to our midfield.
Sharenberg Powell-Pepper and Clarke could also be great additions to our midfield
I can also see SOS wanting at least one more pick in the first round, we already have an extra 3rd this year from the doggies which will help.
Tomlinson could be a handy addition but only at the right price. Our second pick could be around pick 22-26.
Last year we got 4 players for pick 28 and a swap of first rounders.
I wouldn't say Tomlinson has shown anything more at GWS then Plowman Sumer Lamb or Phillips had.
Next years draft is already shaping up very nicely and looks like it may have some real depth, trading a our future second rounder would be very risky IMO.

Be interesting to see how collins from the dogs goes today. We are still 1 kpd short.

Perhaps sos was into marchbank last year, knowing we'd get him this year.

Gws will have enough picks this year for points nearly already. They will probably want a ready made player or picks next year.

I'd be keen on trying to pick up a forward who is capable but lacking opportunity elsewhere, someone like Aaron Black.
just as long as it doesn't effect our top picks. SOS doing a great job so far and very happy to have him finally back at the club.

Good to hear. That screams to me at at least for now it's midfielders and forwards we would be looking at this year.

Maybe midfielders, because we are still putrid at delivering the ball into the forwards it doesn't matter who is there half the time they don't have a chance.

sos said in an interview last week that his focus this year will be on mids & forwards
