Jones is doing enough right now to justify being around at least one more year on the list ...

Dylan Buckley is the interesting one, out of contract at the end of the season, he might be in a bit of strife, tbh ...

Agree, he could be delisted and re drafted as a rookie, which we have done in the past. I still see quite a few players on our list who will go before him so it might come down to how many players we are wanting to cut. Surely Tutt, Dick, Whiley will go before he does.

Ok, well someone has to bring this up.

The inevitable Travis Cloke question. For a very low cost, would anyone entertain the idea of having this guy straighten us up for a couple years until our young talls come along?

I would probably say no, but there is certainly benefit to having some senior talls around the place. The pros would be allowing 3rd tall types like SOSOS and arguably C Curnow come on with a big forward taking the number one defender. I also think Levi plays his best footy at CHF/2nd Ruck, so I doubt they would clash in terms of play style.

I also dont think he would cause us to shoot up the ladder prematurely either.
No,

NO! :straining:

We don't need Cloke.
Tall forwards is one area we are ok - we have Levi whose a dominant marking CHF; we have Curnow who looks a beauty; we have SOS who looks a beauty; and we have Harry whose more of a project

Prestia would cost - and is definitely worth - a first round pick.

Would be thrilled to see him at the club but obviously he'd need to come at a reasonable cost which we'd be willing to pay.

Despite our form I still expect us to have a very high pick. Wouldn't hand that over but if we could split that pick into two first rounders and send one to the GC, that would be a great result. Alternatively we could look to trade our first + something for Prestia and Melbourne's first pick this year which was given to the Suns during last year's trade period.

Seems that SOS is the ultimate bargain shopper.

We won't be paying full price for anything!!

Appreciate everyone's POV and I love Belly and Robbo but Prestia shits on them as a footballer. So much upside whereas the Brissie pair have reached their talent/output limit and capabilities.

Bell and Mitch were great at getting the ball - it was after that the problems started!

no way to cloke. i dont know what the draft has this year. word is more midfielders. look to guys like tomlinson, close or freeman (lions), vardy (cats), daw (north) goddard (saints) that are young enough and may be looking for opportunities. wright from gc would be a good one. having said that casboult/mckay could be a good combo supported by curnow, silvagni & jaksch. get marchbank & weitering could go forward?

whatever we do we need a gun midfield that runs deep

Prestia's best footy, admittedly before injury, was as good as any young mid in the comp.
Crouch, who i'm a big fan of - is yet to live up to the early expectations of him.

SOS seems to have nailed his trades with Crows.

Nice after getting reamed in the Jacobs/Betts deals.

I mean, if we want a key forward with great hands but wayward kicking how about Levi Casboult?
Codts us nothing on the trade table and 41's salary csp space can be used.

If we can get hold of a another pick in the 11-18 range of this years draft, we get a shot at either Battle or Marshall both soild KPF. I'm not sure of thei kicking skills but height , marking ability and intensity are good.

Unless of course were willing to part with next years 1st rounder for say a ready to go Patton or similar out of contract type.

I still think we'll land a top 6 pick, but have given up hope on a PP.

Our second rounder next year (assuming a bottom 6 finish) is worth around 700 points, and our two third rounders this year would be worth around 700 more combined. Thats got the value of a pick at around pick 10 (1400 points). GWS will place extra value on picks in '17 so they would see this as a win.

I'd swap next years second round pick, and both this years third round picks for pick 10 this year. Or swap this years second round pick (700 points), next years second round pick (700 points), and both third round picks this year (700 points) for one of Tomlinson or Marchbank and pick 16 (Geelong) (1000 points) - which values Thommo/ Marchbank at around pick 15 in value (1100 points).

Much too early to be apportioning picks to players, just yet.
The few key standouts will be thereabouts and it's pretty tight thereafter.

Give me ones top ten now and I'll show you at least five names that won't be in there come draft time.

Tutt, Dick, Wood, Gowers (Delisted), Jamison, Walker (retire)

Walker is an interesting one. I hope he's not delisted. But his body is no doubt a big question mark. And he hasn't had a good year thus far. Will be interesting to see how the rest of the year pans out for him.

Hoping he can stay fit and kick some goals for us because in form he's has been a very good player for us.

Casboult & Cloke in our forward line at the same time ??

I don't think the goal umpires are fit enough to run from point post to point post that often.

I just heard on the Couch that Tom McDonald is holding off resigning for the Dees. Anyone think he'd be worth a sniff or do you think he'd want to much cashola??

He'd definitely worth a Crack. But I'd rather throw a second rounder at Collingwood for jack frost and complete that backline

Agree Harker, its way too early to allocate draft postions , my estimations
are indicative only and more in desperate hope of eventually rebuildIng an effective forward line.
We need to address the problem. Silvani has got to come with something.

IMO the cashola is not the problem Chalky.

It is what we have to give up in picks that would be the issue.

Should I be worried?

The AFL website states "West Coast's Patrick Cripps" was fined for involvement in the melee with Port.

Still wiping my glass of red wine off the keyboard!!!
