Next years batch..........Hoskin-Elliott, Shiel, Smith, Patton .....and they can chuck in Tomlinson for our 4th rounder.

Make it happen SoS.
SOS is a legend, not a god.

I think it rarely works out when a player has been in the system for a few years and he just can't seem to make his mark in those early years.
You have to be of a very strong will when things don't go your way early on and you expect them to some time later down the line.

For that reason it's hard to see players with the obvious qualities of a Morabito, Vardy, Alex Johnson etc come good.
Maybe Menzel can, but the odds may well be stacked against a character as good as his is.

That's why I think we'd be very lucky (bad term but you know what I mean) should highly rated players such as Gorringe or Sumner, somehow make good with us. The reasoning may be there but the odds are somewhat distant.

You can probably now add Collingwood's Schranberg to that list ?

It goes without saying, that we need faster big bodied mid field types that can cut through the lines and kick goals.

I don't think we will trade our first or second round picks this year for that reason, and as I said on the rumours thread, I believe the club will try trade in and get more picks for this year's draft.

If Kerridge can play 20 plus games and kick around 1.5 games for us (for a total for 30-something) for the year, and i think he can that's a big win for us.

We have a few big mids already. Murphy is the only small bloke. I doubt too many other teams would have a taller lineup.

The idea that we could get two 1st rounders for Gibbs is possible.

However, Gibbs showed me with his impassioned defence of his captain during one of, if not our worst season ever, that his heart bled navy blue.

I know he comes across as sometimes lackadaisical on the field and I have criticised some specific moments when I didn't think he went hard enough at it but I truly believe he has now matured into a natural leader.

Therefore, losing him now would have been a much worse outcome than the bare facts of a trade appear.

Our three number ones have been through the wringer at one of the worst run clubs for the duration of their careers.

The fact that they have stayed loyal means a lot .

Now that the management of the club appears to have turned the corner, I am hoping we will now see their very best on field.

I honestly doubt we'd get 2 first rounders for Gibbs. And given our salary cap squeeze, I'd want SOS to pull the trigger if we got an trade offer like that, only if one of the picks was a top ten pick.

I'm by no means a Gibbs fan I admit, but I am steadfast in us getting more good/early draft picks this season. We are in year one (Imo) of a rebuild that will take at least 4 years before we will see finals action again, why not cash our chips into getting assets/young players that will be part of our next (projected) premiership window ?

We got to be bold and seize the initiative. But I'm more than happy for Gibbs to stay as well, but pointing out there is long term benefits in trading him.

Maybe we should bundle Graham and Gibbs to Adelaide for Betts and Menzel ;)

There is no salary cap squeeze. We are paying the 95% minimum according to an article a little while ago.

Didn't think he was worth mentioning as he'd just be the steak knives.

Tell me again how many AA teams has Gibbs made ? He is not a club great/champion (in my definition of the term) and has flirted with elite form, but has never quite reached that level (on a consistent level)

Hypothetically if GWS offered us Tomlinson and of their 2016 first round draft picks for Gibbs, we'd do the deal right (or even better Gold Coast's 1st pick and possibly Prestia ?)

If we are ever going to win Premiership #17, we got to be more flexible when it comes to trading, its nigh on impossible to see Gibbs playing a part in our next premiership side, so why not trade him for assets that will help us get there? Holding onto club 'favourites' for too long after 1995, and not planning properly for the future did result in our first spoon in 2002 (and then of course the salary cap disaster that followed)
