Forget our first and second round picks for this year, as GWS have requested them for the 4 players involved. According to what the W.Bulldogs guy in Sydney said, the Carlton board have agreed to the request and are working on getting contracts up and running for the 4 guys. Of course any agreement can go off the rails and therefore we may end up keeping our picks, and then we probably might only get 1 or 2 of those guys, but the deal is for our round 1 and round 2 picks. Harker said that Tomlinson and Sterwart have agreed contracts so it is the other 2 that Carlton are still working on.
wow. is that a statement of fact? im assuming the other two are steele & marchbank?

He's a smart player, very coachable from what I've heard and has more tricks than we've seen to date.
Boekhorst does player better when the team is up and running. There's no problem with that, other than we need players to feed the ball to him.

Just on the GWS proposal, I see people questioning why we'd be after talls and not mids.
What we don't know though, is just how favourably Steele is rated. He went @ #24 as an Academy player but some did rate him top ten material.
How did/does SOS rate him? Would be interesting to know.
Well his stats are pretty good for his age and position.

Boekhorst - Cripps - Cuningham

Kruezer - Steele - Gibbs

plus Murphy, Thomas and ECurnow (or Kerridge)
i still think charlie curnow will be a gun midfielder as will sumner. makes it even better. still have some hope for graham & whiley. i think thomas's days as a mid are over

still a glaring weakness in genuine a grade talent and depth

Not so sure on Sumner but happy to be wrong !
Sumer was a very damaging midfielder/wingman in his draft year. After so much missed footy i expect him to continue as a small forward until he gets some continuity into his game, however i do expect to see him get some midfield time next year hopefully after a full preseason

Eh reckon Sumner will play prominently forward but will no doubt see him up the ground and on the wing through stages of his career. Was drafted as a winger/forward flank IIRC.

CCurnow and Tomlinson (if he comes) will be interesting. Both potentially able to play through the midfield and both able to play KPF. Could be two very hard matchups for opposition teams. Can imagine either pinch hitting in the midfield and letting Cripps to rest forward..

So if Jones doesn't force his way into the lineup for the rest of the year (looking very unlikely with young SOS, Jaksch and even Curnow), I'm guessing we will just bite the bullet and payout his contract, hopefully we have a bit of spare room this year so his salary won't count towards next years cap. Especially if Tomlinson and Stewart come across, no point taking a list spot if they don't see him in our future.

Jones is worth having as a backup and at the very least a mature body in the VFL.

i want to see sumner after a full pre season. doing well at the moment after effectively being our for a year and limited pre season. still young. i see a lot of upside if he can get fit.

Same as this year. He's fair injury cover.

Competition for Carlton spots aren't that tight tbat we can't carry a little insurance.

Big call so early.

If he comes to us then I hope you are right, if he stays at the Giants then I hope your wrong.
It's called putting down a player after he rejects our advances, almost like the kid in high school who asks a girl out and when she says no, tells his friends he didn't like her anyway.

Kinda feel sorry for the guy. He finally gets a call up and plays his role supporting Levi. Kicks some goals, breaks some packs- brings the ball to ground, plays with passion and lays some big tackles. With the names you mentioned (plus McKay) it's not looking good for his future at CFC but if GWS deal doesn't eventuate then i would keep him on for an extra year. If Levi went down for an extended time then there'd be too much pressure on the kids as i'm not sure Gorringe or KJ would be physical enough as FF.
