I see Gubby has left the Giants to return to Melbourne to follow his wife who wants to be closer to their children and grandchildren. I wonder if we will be our head recruiter? Personally I would prefer him to that idiot who copped a twelve month suspension for gambling on AFL games, including the Giants game.

He's more football admin, isn't he? Like a Head of Football Dept guy? Would be more of an Andrew McKay replacement...

Yes, you're right. I wonder what we are planning to do with our head recruiter role?

Is SOS going to be covering that role again this year?

Just a little concerned that we may be light on that department? This is the time where we need as much resources as possible in our recruiting.

Word on the street is he's off to Collingwood.

Note that the ladder prediction thread on the main board is turning. Posters are starting to put us third last instead of dead last. One NAB game and they see changes. Cautious optimism.

Mrgin of error would be minimal, could finish last.
But I agree a more contemporary game plan was evident.
This will help stop gaols leaking, but with the same token our 2016 list would have to be the most bereft (in terms of ) goal kickers I can remember.

Can't argue with the goalkicking after a 4 goal NAB Challenge game. The proof in our new game plan will be in how it gives us space and time and improves our forward entries.

I don't miss Henderson at all. Funnily enough Waite would have been quite useful given his marking ability. Hindsight huh .... could have given him two years after all, just while we are growing other options.

I do think that a lot of players spring out of the ground if your systems are right. I see incremental improvement in every player. Somebody will surprise ... that's a given.

So there was an article about this year's eligible father sons and I was wondering, though I've asked before, if anyone knows of guys we may have dibbs at in 2017.

Alternatively, can anyone help with a list for our potential players in the academy?

I like big Rowe and he actually does win quite a lot of 1v1's...outmarks his opponent a decent amount.

But our defence would be much better if Hendo was there and playing like he was a few years ago.
But then we might not have McKay or Curnow so all good.

Still think we should have stuck with Henderson as a defender 100% of the time. Damn this fascination with swingers...

The whole obsession with 'swingman' thing from a few years ago was a total bust for basically everyone who tried it across the AFL.

Sure some players can have short cameo's switching to the other end, but no player excelled at constantly switching...seemed to throw them off.

Hendo, Carlisle and Reid were regarded as 3 of the best...but all ended up struggling and ultimately settled in one position. Eg We settled on Hendo being a forward, Collingwood have settled on Reid being a defender.

Reckon if he'd stayed down back and stayed happy, he'd be AA by now. #1 defender and Jamo could take a lighter load.
But then again, we were desperate for a tall fwd at the time and I wanted to play forward. Will happily admit I was wrong there.

His team mates at school and at TAC level called him SOS.
He is SOS.
Will only be confusing in the cafe at the club when Stephen and Jack are both there, and someone yells out "SOS" and they both turn their heads around.
