C: Boekhurst Mitchell Cuningham
HF: Curnow Stewart Tomlinson

I don't know about others, but I think that's a pretty bloody stellar looking line up.
Nice try but there is a lot of "maybe's" in that lot.

it may also get him with a lesser pick if we can carry it?
I'm likely way off track, but I just don't see us shelling out that much money for someone who's not an immediate best 22 player and has ongoing injury concerns to boot.

Prestia I get, and then we'll still have money next year for a big ticket item. WHE though? Maybe, but I don't see it.

I meant Hoskin-Elliot.

I feel he's on too much money for us right now.
A missing piece of the puzzle then fine, but our puzzle has too many pieces missing right now.
His outside game is what we could definitely do with, money not an issue. Not sure he is on the table at all at the moment...!

We need to take advantage of the GWS scenario while we can. Theres only probably this trade period until the window closes and we need to make the most of it. Id be willing to take on a few of these guys on bigger salaries if it meant we can get them cheap.

Would also be prepared to give our first rounder for the GWS4 proposed. We need to being quality onto our list and GWS have an embarrasment of quality in the NEAFL.

I think all the proposed GWS players will all bring something to our list!

Marchbank and Tomlinson are largely unproven at AFL level
Marchbank yes, although he's still only 19.

Tomlinson has had 5 years in the system, so we'd know what we're getting. I'd expect him to perform a role as a marking half forward like Henderson did for a couple of years. Or maybe as a mobile defender, ala Paul Bower minus the headless emu running. A tall utility with neither the goalkicking nous of Everitt nor the defensive capabilities of Simon White but ultimately pushing both out of the 22.
Pick 5 might be on the table if SOS tries to swap it for two later first round picks, which will go a long way in securing Prestia.
After the Jaksch trade, I'm wary of infinitely providing GWS with a source of top 10 picks, even with the steak-knives above.

Vickery is a free agent so he can go if he wants to - Tigers can only stop him by matching the offer.

FWIW - no club has ever matched an offer made to a RFA.
It is only a matter of time before a club does match any offer. This almost came about last year with Dangerfield, the crows made it known they would match any offer so the clubs just did a deal.

depends how sos rates him. he'd know. i dont know. im only speculating. i just think that if you can get a talented player in by paying his contract and save you a good draft pick its a realistic option. if we have cap space why not?

When he does get on the park. He just doesn't seem to play many games, does he?
One and a half, this year to date, could worry recruiters.

Don't know what Bolton thinks of Boekhorst but he sure does like Cuningham.
Would like to see these two play a lot more games and give us some more midfield zip.

Injury prone and doesn't get a heap of the ball, H-E may be an upgrade on Tutt but then we already have Sumner.

I'm wary of these talented kids who survive on 3 possies a quarter. (*cough* Menzel)

Even though we desperately need to find a small goal-sneak, I just can't see us using our first pick in the 2016 draft on a sub-180cm player, in fact it hardly ever happens.

Unless Brodie slides to us at #4, I believe we will use that first-rounder on a completely unexpected player altogether :

Subject to what picks we had after that (assuming we trade our way into the top 30 with two more picks, lets say for argument sake #12 & #21), we will be aiming to get the best bigger sized mids available at those picks.

After that, a goal-sneak and another mid should be the order of the day subject to what picks we had left over.

If things stay as they are in terms of ladder position, there is no way we would be getting Marshall. Either the scum or the shockers are going to grab him.

Lol we'd be incredibly stupid to draft Todd Marshall.

Marshall would have been behind McKay and others last year as a KPP and is only being pushed up because there are no KPP in this draft.

Mids only please.

If we use our first pick on anything other than a gun midfielder (be it by trade or draft) I will microwave my membership/burn down Princes Park/dump a load of manure at the training centre/*insert outlandish overreaction here*.

We are desperately short on quality in the mids, particularly skill/decision making wise.

Marshall could end up being the best player in the draft, or a complete bust. Whilst I recognise he has talent, i'm not sure he has the mental application to make it at AFL level. I have nothing to back this up, just a gut feeling.

Brett Anderson on "trading places" Sen1116 said today that talk he is hearing from GWS is that Tomlinson looks pretty likely to be in Navy next year and also Marchbank favored to be heading in the same direction .
What we do know is that the club has stated our first pick is off the table , so ...
Interesting times ahead .
Anderson also said that joining all the dots together from what he is hearing , Mitchell may well be bound for Hawthorn so perhaps those discussions here might be put on the back burner ...

By my recollection we are targeting 38 players from each club that makes 684 players including our own - you gotta count your own. If 50% of them are spuds nobody would ever want that cuts the number down to 342. Of those 342 say 20% of them are one club players. That takes it down to 273.6 possible combinations. Taste the rainbow.

Not all trade and free agent targets is spuds (Tyrone Vickery).

Essendon will take Brodie for sure, the Dockers will be doing some trades (eg. McCarthy) to replace Pav, they aren't going to wait for a young guy to develop like that. Added to that, I reckon they will draft that 204cm WA ruckman Tim English, they need to also replace Sandilands.

I might be completely wrong on this but could we trade our first and second for Prestia and pick 9? It would give GC picks 4 and 5 and if a bid hasn't come for Bowes they could add 4,5 and Bowes which would be a huge haul for them in this years draft.
