Yeah not true...Rohan is good in the contest.

Where is this talk coming from? He's so important for Sydney's forward line
I'm basing this on having watched games. If you can prove me wrong that's fine, but in general I find Rohan to do good things; baulking a player or two to find a way to a classy goal, or gathering a loose ball on a wing to deliver extremely well to a leading forward.

I also remember him squibbing a few contests in their forward line due to disliking contact. He relies on sheer pace to get away from tacklers, and when he can't his disposal suffers. I think Rohan is better than some of those we have in his position, but he's 25 and very injury prone, and not so much better than Sumner, who plays his role for us, that I would consider him a must get in any way.

He's an incremental improvement trade, and right now we don't need that type of trade so much. Get young talent in, and we can pick up classy role players later.

Well yeah i dont know where this Rohan talk is coming from but he doesn't fit the criteria for us in terms of age and the fact he's injury prone.

But still, he is a very good player and i think you are underselling his ability in the contest...can leap high for contest marks, chases and tackles hard and also you say he baulks players to kick goals and burns players off with speed...that means he was in a contested situation and he was good enough to get out of it through speed and class.

Someone had heard that Rohan was interested in getting a trade from Sydney a few pages back, and they suggested Touhy.

I could be; I do recall him taking some great marks on the lead, and he does some absolutely scintillating things sometimes, but I come back to what I said before. Rohan dislikes contact. He doesn't like being tackled, akin to how Tutt dislikes being tackled. Rohan is faster, has a better head for getting into position, and is significantly better when outside than Tutt is, but under pressure he makes mistakes in very much the same way.

He's also a receiver as much as anything else. He sits outside packs, and waits for the ball to get loose; Sydney plan for this, and they have the luxury to do so by having nine thousand inside midfielders, as well as finding ways to manufacture space inside fifty for him to lead into.

If we could get him for nothing (delisted free agent, or a trade for a third round/late second pick) then that's completely different. But I'm not trading Touhy for him, nor would I give away anything of real value for someone that is as absent as he is both on the ground and off it.

would essendon do pick one and maybe their second round pick with something back? if the the draft is
Not sure if this is fair re Rohan, but...

My gut feels is that he is a player that could tear games apart but doesn't.
the rumour is that geelong are in to him. thats why the talk. no one else at this stage

I thought we were into reid in a big way a few years back. Bullet dodged?

Would only have him on a very short contract and for basically free at the trade table (which wouldn't happen). Had some potential. Another that can't stay on the park
FWIW - both Reid and Rohan are free agents.

No trading is required.

I know we have Weiters, but Tommy McDonald would be a perfect replacement for Jamo (and i would give up our first pick for, without a shadow of a doubt)

We wouldn't have to worry about Marchbank then, and gives us more flexibility with trading for the other GWS players we're keen on.

He will get a lot more then that. If Cripps got injured and was in a similar position their is noway I would trade him for a second rounder. I think he will get a pick between 3-8 or the equivalent.
if SOS gave up pick 3 for him and he never played again , can you imagine how this forum would explode ..have to be a brave list manager to go taking risks like that , with the risks involved i'd only go as high as early 2nd round...

Rate the guy quite highly, though he's yet to show the consistency I'd really like to see.

Curious though, how does giving up our first for him offer more flexibility for getting some GWS players? I'd have thought our first would get Marchbank plus a few others from GWS, so we'd actually end up paying more in multiple trades.

Didnt realise rohan was a RFA seems crazy played 70 games . Think if he comes back will land at geelong with their liking to retire or move on their older players . Looks like bartel will be the next .
Rohan and Menzel would really test a lot of defensive groups...when they're both on the park.

More than likely not... apart from going through other teams lists and looking for players who he thinks would be a good option for us.

Or someone one twitter or facebook or one of the football journo's has mentioned his name in passing.

DVB has a scatter gun approach to our recruiting... throwing up a shitload of names in the hope that one of them is right and he can claim bragging rights.

To be fair, there's been speculation that Tom McDonald may not re-sign with Melbourne, and I believe he's delayed contract talks. DVB just said he'd like T-Mac, nothing about any rumours to that effect.

Bingo, never actually said that he was linked to us, just a player i'd like us to recruit.
