I hope not. I'd like to see him get a good run at it. A bit of confidence in himself would work wonders.
Confidence isn't the issue with him. He made a great chase and tackle against Sydney. That's not from a player with low confidence. His main issue is that he is afraid of the contest.

Also like to give a clip to a few posters on here who were slagging off young Mathieson from the Lions in the last few days.

The kid is only 19 years old, has played a handful of games, is in his first season in a team that gets smashed every week (except against us) and still he gives everything, played well today getting 19 touches. To think a few of you were giving him shit, what do you expect from a 19yo taken at pick 39? He has shown more in his limited games this season than so many of our players past and present.
He's a limited player, poor disposal, poor decision-making.

For me it's less about he hasn't done enough, I just don't see him improving given the fundamentals he has to work with. He was rated because he was a big-time ball-winner as a junior, but just hasn't the game for sustained success at AFL level IMO

Decision making is something that improves with experience and support, disposal is harder to rectify but as you said he gets a lot of the ball which is a a massive tick, on todays game his disposal didn't look as rough as say a Robinson. I just thought some were very quick to say he was crap when if he was at our club he would they would be saying the opposite.

He is just above Whiley level talent IMO.

Has better composure. That's it really

Mathieson is a staging, ducking scumbag, i'll give him shit until the day he retires. We need to stamp that shit out of the AFL

He's also a butcher with the ball

Amazing that a kid could have learnt those traits staging ducking by his first year of senior football . Obviously been watching selwood christenson and the like growing up . This trait is only going to get worse if the afl dont stamp this trait out .

there are no other teams worthy
morabito... nah. think we can do better than someone who won't have played 30 games at the end of his 6th year in the system. want the guy to succeed but maybe let someone else take the risk.

honeychurch, ellis-yolmen a couple of safer bets
Honeychurch people happy to give a go for a 3rd or 4th round pick.
But, yes, Morabito has been out of senior AFL playing system so long now I barely think you can value him as anything worth risking getting him on than just as de-listed free agent like we gave chances to Gorringe and Dick. He is something you look if he comes up after the real targets of trade period are ticked off.

Not sure if Clay Smith is available from Dogs but he is a talent and impressed despite the footy he has missed has got back to senior footy very quick in a side going well. He is something we lack of a guy that can hit the scoreboard. BTW, good to see Dylan Buckley doing that for us yesterday.

You can rookie them if they make it through the DFA periods.

Jayden Hunt - young kid, long blonde hair, probably hard to pick him up in general play because he appears only as a blur.

Kid has some serious wheels, and is prepared to take the game on. DylBucks is handy on his day, but Hunt has him covered for pace.
