Regardless of the Levi debate, If we get Marchbank, I think we have to trade Rowe while he has currency. The above compensation is about right.
He will be 29 in a few months, he doesn't really have any currency. More valuable to us than what we would get for him (4th round pick if lucky).

Ideally, we'd have found a taker for Levi and have Rowe play the fwd / ruck role where, where impact of his liability with the ball is lessened.

I think Levi on a one year deal is a great idea. And I'd keep doing that year on year. Give him some incentive to improve.

Besides, until we have a replacement putting their hand up to take his spot what are our options? We need a mature big body. Harry is still 2 years away.

The Lions would probably give up a second rounder for him, this years or 2017's second rounder. They are desperate for experienced defenders to guide their young KPD's, especially since sauce Merritt retired. We end up with something decent for a pretty average player. I call it a win win situation for both clubs.

If Tuohy is going to end up at North, I would ask for their 2017 first rounder. I would bet on them sliding well out of the eight next season.
All but slipped out of it this year.

Fun fact: North spent more weeks on top of the ladder this year than any other team... :)

IF we had a forward line with a number of options and they were all able to kick goals on a regular basis, Levi would not be a problem as we would be more competitive and the pressure would be off Levi. We have plenty of forward entries but poor return. Every game we have won this season has been from accurate kicking in front of goals.
As he is our only real target he is easy to defend and his kicking is critical so the pressure on him rises. No one runs past for the hands as I feel that want him to work his way out of it through the pressure on him when he is having a shot on goal.
Hey it bugs the crap out of me too that he can't kick but we need him for our structure while these young kids come through

I think North would bet on that as well - the delisting of those blokes clearly shows they see themselves in rebuild mode. They won't give up next years all rounder unless its for a gun.

Yeah, they all but slipped out this year, that's why I reckon they will fall even further next year, which makes more sense to ask for their 2017 first round pick for Tuohy should he go there. It will end up as a very good pick for us if they accept.

Really don't like the idea of Weitering having to carry so much of the load so early. Rowe has to stay to offer some protection imo.

Black would be no worse than Casboult and Jones.

The trouble is the quality significantly dips around 27 and we'd prefer to upgrade our second to their first and perhaps throw in a later pick.

That's just it, I don't think they will see themselves in full rebuild mode, they are gonna do what they always do and look to trade for players that are mid to late 20's in age and try to stay there or thereabouts as they are now. They wont go into full rebuild mode. You can almost count on it that they wont.

Lazy argument - not sure why you would think that has any relevance whatsoever.

Do you think Lachie Neale is the third best player to have played the game since 2000?
How is it a lazy argument, do you think it is acceptable to have a player average less than 10 possessions a game.. It might be okay if in those 10 possessions he averaged 3+ goals but he averages LESS than 1 goal and i dont have the stats but i reckon it would be even less assists. So what exactly is his contribution to the team??

I saw Casboult closely against Essendon in rnd 23 unless he was carrying an injury, he looked like a player going through the motions, he dropped several marks he'd normally eat for breakfast, and his second efforts were poor.

People (rightfully) condemn Everitt for being a conditional footballer, i'd strongly argue Casboult is just as bad.
wouldn't use that game as an example. pretty sure the entire team had their heads in thailand

OK put Jones in and have the same argument he's there until we get or develop better .

Rowe could probably net us a second rounder from Brisbane, Id settle for a 2017 second rounder which would be very early 20's if not pick 19 next year. They want experienced defenders, though I still wouldn't move Casboult to defence.
Rowe gets us absolutely nothing... a second rounder OMG..

He is actually worth something for a club like the Lions who are desperate for experienced defenders. I find it funny that people think he isn't worth anything but are deadest happy for us to keep him. Its kind of very contradictory thinking IMO.

I agree North wont see themselves in rebuild mode, Scott would have seen what his brother did last year at Geelong and do exactly the same thing.. The players they retired are easily replaced. They will be going hard for JOM, Swallow & Prestia and will have identified areas of weakness, pace, class, outside run and be aggressive at the trade table.

It's a lazy argument because you're using average disposals to establish the value of a key forward.

Disposals alone shouldn't be used to determine the value of any player, let alone a key forward who naturally gets less of the ball.

Of far greater significance is what he does with the ball.

I don't disagree with you that Levi is hugely disappointing but there are far more accurate ways to demonstrate that than by simply pointing to the average number of disposals he has per game.

Why you chose to add Daw to the comparison is baffling. Firstly .3 of a disposal is an immaterial amount, secondly they don't play the same role so a direct comparison between the two is completely irrelevant.
