That's just it, I don't think they will see themselves in full rebuild mode, they are gonna do what they always do and look to trade for players that are mid to late 20's in age and try to stay there or thereabouts as they are now. They wont go into full rebuild mode. You can almost count on it that they wont.
We'll have to disagree. Harvey was only of their top 10 players, Dal Santo clearly best 22. They wouldn't have delisted those blokes if they cared about staying in the 8 next season. They'll know next years pick is highly likely to be in the single figures and will trade accordingly I think.

Number of touches is important, as is efficiency, and number of goals kicked, and number of tackles, etc etc etc.
It is a balance.
Disposals shouldn't be completely ignored but there are a number of statistics which are of greater importance when valuing key forwards.

Certainly they shouldn't be used in isolation.

If Tuohy goes, irrespective of the club it may be, I think you might find the deal would be Tuohy and a 3rd (either 1 of this yrs or next yrs) for his destination clubs 2017 1st rounder.

The 3rd would only go if its needed to sweeten the deal, it would be very similar to what we done for Henderson.

Can we?

Our depth is already an issue, and Byrne and Sheehan are already on the injury list. If we add another player who we know won't be available for next season, we're putting ourselves in a seriously dangerous position should we suffer a few injuries to starting 22 mids.
I think we can.
Sheehan is no certainty of even being on the list next year. Our list is going to have another 5-6 players delisted that are not up to it & they will be replaced with young talent from draft & trade. if we suffer more injuries that test our depth next year what's going to happen? We may lose an extra game or 2 and give some young players an opportunity. It's not about next season, it's a longer term approach.

So we give up Pick 5 and approx Pick 4 or 5 next year to pick up Picks 4 and 6 ??? Why ?
Then trade back into next years draft with future picks. Gives us minimum two picks inside the top ten this year for the best players available and we do the same again next year trading for future picks. Three years of hitting the draft hard.

Your last sentence is exactly what I don't think North are thinking. I think they think that they can do what they have done and bring in experienced players, I don't think full rebuild is even in their thinking.

****en ACLs ! The sooner medical science comes up with a way to stop this injury the better...
Whether it's one of our boys, an opposition player or a young bloke at local level. They work their guts out to be their best and in one horrible, stuffed up, heartbreaking second, they're not only out of footy for a year, but they endure lonely, arduous and sometimes painful months of rehab.
I absolutely HATE hearing a bloke has done an ACL. I wish the kid all the best and a speedy recovery...
They're trialling a procedure called "Bridge-Enhanced ACL Repair (BEAR)" in the US at the moment. It repairs the actual ACL tendon instead of grafting one. The recovery time is supposed to be reduced significantly. ...but that's a discussion for another thread.

Certainly can see the value in trading 2018 picks for 2017 picks, seeing as we'll probably have to match an early bid for BSOS (if the talk of him being a standout prospect are to be believed).

Would rather trade future seconds for late firsts though, especially given the academy clubs seem to like the idea of stockpiling seconds for extra trade flexibility.

It's a lazy argument because you're using average disposals to establish the value of a key forward.

Disposals alone shouldn't be used to determine the value of any player, let alone a key forward who naturally gets less of the ball.

Of far greater significance is what he does with the ball.

I don't disagree with you that Levi is hugely disappointing but there are far more accurate ways to demonstrate that than by simply pointing to the average number of disposals he has per game.

Why you chose to add Daw to the comparison is baffling. Firstly .3 of a disposal is an immaterial amount, secondly they don't play the same role so a direct comparison between the two is completely irrelevant.
I used average disposals as a comparison to how consistently little he has any impact on a game of football, any forward averaging less than 10 possessions and less than a goal a game is have ZERO impact on a game of football. I used Daw as a comparison because he is largely seen by most to have no idea what he is doing out on a footy field yet he gets the ball more times than Levi. Travis Cloke who most regarded as having played at a standard below AFL level still averaged 13 possessions and 1.3 goals a game.. Levi output was far below that of Clokes. Overall what i am pointing out is that it is not just Levi set shot kicking that is an issue.

I'm think more along the lines of trading players out like Tuohy, Kruezer etc ( I wont mention Gibbs as people don't like it when I do haha) this year for 2017 first rounders. So while me may give up our first rounder next year, we also trade back in at the same time.

I agree and I think they are condemning themselves to mediocrity for a long time. Scott is looking at his brother at Geelong and thinking he can do the same thing at North, problem is they don't have Selwood, Taylor, Lonergan etc. and they won't be able to get a Dangerfield. When the AFL put the 22 and under squad of the best 40 young players, North didn't have a single player. I would hate to be a North supporter right now, I don't know what is going through their heads.

Did mine when I was 18. Had a reco, went on to play till my 30s and was fine till a few years ago. Meniscus and cartiledge just crumbling a little every day. Sucks.

It's not "likely" that we'll finish 18th next year.
I don't think so either I think our first next year will most likely be around the 5/6 mark again. I reckon our performances will improve next year but I am not certain the results will be much different from this year. In the 6 - 8 wins region for 2017 season. I think the jump to double figure wins comes in 2018. I think this is more likely.
