Suns are desperate for players but haven't they done Graham & Everitt already with Mitch Hallahan & Jarrod Grant?

Wouldn't be happy to lose the #5 but would have to be O.K. with a pick ~#16 coming back.
Cheers for sharing TP. Like the Suns like, don't like the GWS trade - think we could get both for 23 alone or forget Pickett. Not worth losing five.
If it were to transpire as Harks has suggested, it would be virtually equivalent to pick 23 in points value (something they will be concerned about in that pick range).

If the #5 talk is true they must want to get ahead of the academy queue and get some talent in given their existing pick stock, but that being said, here's a quick list of names on the outer at GWS:

McCarthy
Finlayson
McKenna
Pickett
Marchbank
Stewart
Steele
Simpson
Downie
Barrett
Mohr

I'm sure others can think of a couple more, and most of those names are uncontracted (AFAIK). Their top 30 is great, but their final 14 (or so) is littered with LTI issues, average top 20 selections (law of averages really), and junk.

There's no reason why they can't take #23 for Marchbank, Stewart and Pickett IMO.

Given we have such an interest in Marchbank, we have to at least consider that there's a very good reason for that to be the case........but I don't think that the reason would be; "Let's stack our backline to the hilt at the expense of other areas of the ground"

I just see Weitering playing forward.
With Docherty, Plowman, Byrne and possibly Marchbank down back and that we're resolute in playing a team defence, we may not need Weitering at full-back as much as we think we may.

The guy is an aerobic beast, a leader, has a straight kick and reads the ball as well as anyone.......I just see him as forward, going.....forward.
Waste of time having him there at this point, and likely into the future.

Depends on the quack!?

Once you've realised what it is, you know when the mofo's flaring up and time to remedy.

The foot is a prime candidate.
Feet
Big toes
Ankles
Knees
Elbows

I've had it in all these areas, and if you don't catch it in time, no amount of Voltaren, Mobic, cold gout etc will stop it.
Preventative meds the only way, and drink shit loads of water

Please Carlton do not get Pickett from GWS. Look at his inside player rating http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Ratings/Player/118437/Jarrod-PICKETT can't even get 20 touches in NEAFL where a lot of Afl players can get 50+ touches. Also the fact they mention he is finding out what it takes to be an Afl footballer scares me.
That is a gross exaggeration of his performances, bearing in mind you're talking about a bloke who has just finished his 2nd year after being struck down with a foot injury in April.

Have a look at his final 7 games of last year in the very thing you've linked: great signs of consistency in a wing/HF role. He's a winger, and he showed plenty as a junior to warrant his draft position.

None of these guys are worth stand alone picks, so if we specifically want any of them, trade out our 3rd/4th round picks.

Rest assured, at 2.29pm on last Friday of Draft Week, they'll bend over.

All I'm saying is that 23 is useful to them, and that they might make 6-8 at the draft depending on what they trade in; they're in a strong bargaining position to get good value out of their discards, but no where near as strong as last year.

Please for the love of God whatever we do please don't trade pick 5. We have a better chance of the 5th most talented player turning out than going after the 6th best player from 2 years ago whos had serious injuries. I don't think it could be any more logical than that.
Agreed, Carlton need to learn to obtain and develop new talent. I think that Bolton's greatest contribution as senior coach will be this skill and the likes of Cripps, Weitering, Curnow, SOS and the next few drafts recruits will set Carlton up for the next 10+ years.

We really need to keep pick 5!

Can't agree. Nic Nat is a matchwinner and West Coast play a lot better with him in the side. Where did North go when Goldstein got injured? Their end to the 9 straight pretty much co-insides with his injury. Max Gawn takes his game to the next level and low & behold Melbourne start winning some games. No co-incidences in these cases.
Good ruckman obviously improve the team.. but if youre looking at it from a draft and trading perspective, theyre the last priority. A team with 5 gun midfielders and functioning forward lines and back lines (ala Hawthorn with Ceglar) will beat a team with less mids and a gun ruckman (ala West Coast with Nic Nat)

Look at the premiership winning ruckman over the last 10 years, it's not statistically insignificant.

Pretty sure we have to use it at the draft, can't keep it forever.

koby stevens dropped for the match vs west coast behind dunkley, mclean and clay smith with mitch wallis to return next year should give him a pretty clear indication of where he sits in their plans going forward. reckon we need to make a play for him.
So we want to recruit the Bulldogs 10th best midfielder? Are we trying to build a team to try and win a premiership or just be competitive?

Keeping pick 5 is telling me unless it's a very good deal we can't refuse we'll consider it and at the same time pick 5 tells me the club already know who they want at the draft with that pick

Out of contract this year IIRC, and the Doggies will have to be short a quid soon to keep all their players, though M.Boyd may pay a price on that front (too good to be giving it away at the end of his year mind you).
Another at his 3rd club if he moves on. Solid player and a midfielder as we're sorely missing in numbers.
