Some delisted players in our age demographic that I'd be happy for the club to look at.

John Butcher - Forgotten man and poor kick yes, but seriously knows how to play the FF role and is a great forward defensive player. Serious talent - worth the risk.
Liam McBean - Can kick goals. 202cm player with a number of tricks. Surprised he was let go. Huge upside still.
Seb Tape - Laidler type, who is really really smart with the footy. Can play in either of the arcs. Would be great off HB, Allowing Zac to be play more Yarranesque.
Luke Russell - 17 yo selection originally. 70 plus games in 6 years, can seriously play. Tough mid. Worth a 2nd chance.

Kid worth a shot -

Michael Gibbons, though small is a nice solid option for midfield. Liston and Goss medallist.

Isn't it still being played?

*Just found a stream, damn they are giving it to the Pies VFL team..

Should we have a look at Ben Long? Just kicked his 5th goal..

Watched his game today and last week, kid looks a real talent. Reads the play well, good skills and knows where the goals are. Would love SOS to have a look at him in the draft.

I am of the opinion , that our biggest leap in performance is going to come with our midfield.
I am looking forward to a young gun mid in the parish/oliver/mills mold coming in and impacting straight away(#5 pick) I am also looking forward to see how Murphy/Gibbs/Cripps can go if they all stay on the park for the year, the synergy would be delicious ( to quote a mcAveny ism)
I also am looking forward to seeing how kerridge gets used in a more complete midfield. He has 2 great qualities- fitness and ability to tag. will he become our carazzo/Curnow? Will he be able to perform better when not being asked to be an inside mid? His spread ability is very good as he has good speed and fitness.
I am also looking forward to the continued rise of Ed Curnow , who this year started to surprise us with his skills and possession numbers.
Will Cuningham have a break out year as a break away mid?

What do Sydney, gws, Bulldogs and Geelong all have in common?

They all have elite midfields that get them on the front foot.

All valid DFA's to have a look at, and if deemed worthwhile for the team, snap 'em up for free. Butcher probably the most unlikely of the lot however. Tape has really dropped off but an ACL can do that.
If we cut deep then solid replacements. If we didn't have a few contracts then younger replacements.

Well, I don't know how many Butcher has actually kicked OOB, but he ain't a 1 goal 3 behinds forward. He's actually kicked 41.21 over his career. Levi, has kicked 71.60 just for info. So, yes, when they actually keep them in the stadium, they kick better than I thought. But then you armchair full forwards knew that, right.

Get a good spine the fill around. Good KPP and the hardest to find. Get them in place, fill with good mids once your KPP are showing promise, then trade/free agent/mature age the flanks that aren't mid rotations and your small forwards. No point having a killer midfield with no spine.

Read between the lines dude.

And yes, I would be a better full forward than Butcher.

how did the crows killer forward line go today without their mids giving them elite supply? how did buddy go last week when the swans midfield was being spanked. Answer those two questions and you have the rationale behind targeting the midfield as a priority

My thoughts, based on our ALLEGED interest.

#5 & 2nd 2017 # 59 to GWS
#17, Marchbank, Pickett, Stewart, Corr, McKenna and GWS 2nd 2017 to Carlton. GWS salary cap and list space.

# 41 to Dogs
Hrovat to Carlton

Tuohy and #17 to North for # 11 and # 29

#23 and #29 to GWS FOR # 16( anyone for another first round)

Then I would
Kreuzer to West Coast
Duggan & Lamb to Carlton (both want to come home)

Everett and Graham to anyone who'll take them( GC ) For #40

Go to draft with
11,16,40,46 (dogs 3rd from last yr)

SImmo Marchbank Plowman
Docherty Corr Weitering
Cuningham Cripps Duggan
Curnow Casboult Hrovat
Silvagni Stewart Pickett
Phillips Gibbs Murphy

E Curnow McKenna Lamb Wright

Bryne, McKay #11, #16 next up when ready

There's a lot of talk of Carlton downgrading pick 5 for pick 7 in the Marchbank trade. I can't see it happening. Brody, Ainsworth or McGrath are likely to slip to 5 but very unlikely to still be there at 7. Pick 5 is far too valuable to be on the table.
