The impression I got is that Ross would've cracked him and said pass that on to your s**tstain mate Slobbo and tell him if he ever leaves Victoria I'll hunt him down like the dog he is and bash him within an inch of his life....
But maybe I was imagining things:p

Definitely got the vibe he was directing it at Slobbo. Slobbo was probably passed out somewhere and didn't get to see it though

He probably would have asked Ross how Jetta was going.

Considering he spoke to Leon Cameron today as if he was the Bulldogs coach it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I must admit that Ross and the club have done a stellar of job of marketing our decline. After listening to Ross you almost feel reassured, it is quite bizarre really. The 'old' Freo would have been reactionary and panicky, we would have probably sacked someone but it is quite a cool, calm message we are getting. Some of the fans are hysterical though, social media can be a bit of a hoot.

Safe to say Slobbo got the message after coming out with this in his weekly "Tackle" article for the Herald Sun. This is point 5 of his dislikes:

5. HARLEY DOUBTERS

Stories abound, and maybe it’s just people are making up stories, but you have to believe Ross Lyon when he says there’s nothing sinister in Harley Bennell being out for the remainder of the season. Lyon even invited the storytellers to contact the club. He has consistently described Bennell as “outstanding’’.

The creeps down SEN way reluctantly getting the message too (at 12:40)

I really liked Ross's interview. He spoke so well about the Bennell issue and I felt especially proud of him!

"I think you got to get your head around it takes a few drafts...."

- Crozier most likely to play off the half back line this week.
- Identified some issues that can't be addressed until next summer/off-season.
- Barlow will be in.

First interview since they've been doing the internal reviews so interesting to gauge the initial reaction to the abrupt fall:-

1. 'Always a transition period coming, we understood that, but it's come earlier than what we thought.'
2. 'Key component is time, getting the talent through the door and sticking to the plan.' Refers to how long it has taken the Bulldogs and at least a few drafts for us....At 0-9, that's getting rather obvious, but hearing it officially, floors me.
3. 'Relocation of coaching resources' - less line coaches and more development. Overhaul to come here as you'd expect.

I've said it before and it sounds as though Ross agrees that Croz is destined to be our very own Kenny Hunter.:thumbsu::rainbow::rainbow::thumbsu:

I'll settle for the new Paul Duffield.:D

Thanks so much for posting this. Key bits from the transcript are here:

Ross Lyon outlines Fremantle's future

Injuries and poor form have resulted in a tough year for the 2016 preliminary finalists.
"We had our chance to mount our campaign and we didn't do that," Lyon told Sports Today.
"Our players understand there's some fallout from that.
"When you're not performing, you need to reward the people below."

As the Dockers look past 2016, the development of younger players will be important for the well-resourced club.
"As you get a lot of younger players in, I'll have to spend more time with the development of those young players," said Lyon.
"We might go a bit thinner at the top with our line coaches and strip one back and put one in with development."

The Western Bulldogs have gone through a similar patch in the past five years, after reaching three preliminary finals in a row. Since then, Lyon has been impressed with the recruiting at the Bulldogs, with the likes of Jack Macrae, Jake Stringer, Marcus Bontempelli and Luke Dahlhaus all proving to be good picks.

"The Bulldogs aren't an overnight success."
"It's a six year rebuild at the Bulldogs. They got the talent right."

Great to hear Ross will personally be spending most of his time in development. As he said though:

"There's not a development program in the world that's a panacea for poor recruiting."

"We had our chance to mount our campaign and we didn't do that,"......TICK!!
"As you get a lot of younger players in, I'll have to spend more time with the development of those young players,".....TICK!!
If anyone can turn a pig's ear into silk purse it's our Ross....TICK!!....
but hang on....

.....well that's a bugger....looks like we're back there again:huh::p

Not at all. I interpreted his panacea for poor recruiting comment as being, we don't want end up in that position and we need to make sure we get our recruiting right in these next few critical drafts.

Not at all.
Yes Fred I realise Ross was emphasising that there is no other way to do it than nail the draft.
I was making silly, obtuse reference to both the repetitive 20/20 hindsight whinging on the board about recruitment and my silk purse joke that it didn't matter who we recruited RTB would make a gun of them.
