Ross' lesson learned from America: endear yourself to the playing group by slumming it with a fringe player - appear friendly and approachable to win over the middle classes. Well played Ross, well played indeed sir

But don't let them see your eyes

Your "fringe" player will probably play every game next year.

I thought the article went fairly easy on us. Didn't repeat the vulgar or drug related parts of the facebook post and the tone of the article was that Freo had done the right thing by Yarran.

Maybe they're just waiting on confirmation that it was Yarran's own words before they get the knives out.

Seriously though, we had such a s**t 2016 season. We finish with the tinniest ray of light winning Pav's last game. We build on that with a killer trade/draft period...... and then it's just turns to s**t, and keeps getting s**t-er.

Agree totally. Just from a media POV, this has been a nightmare for us. It takes very little for the media to create narratives and labels. All the positive work the Freo publicity guys have done has essentially been napalmed at the worst possible time.

"Despite numerous attempts the club has not be able to talk directly to Shane Yarran regarding posts made from a social media account in his name," a club spokesman said.

"However, last night Shane advised a club official via SMS that he did not have a Facebook account.

"The account from which the posts were made has now been deactivated."

Reading between the lines - Shane gets pissed, writes barely intelligible rant, wakes up and has 400 missed calls from the club and others, realises what he's done, deactivates the account, sends a text message to the club and turns his phone off.

Or the club and Shane are telling the truth.

Is there anything in the posts that actually says "insider" and not just "troll rolling out anti-Freo cliches"?

I think you make a good point. Fyfe a virgin - I don't think so. "Fakiest club"? Who other than a semi-illiterate teenager would write that?

IF it wasn't Yarran (and that's an unknown), then this wouldn't be a bad way for a family member to stitch him up would it? He has an assault charge pending against a family member so there could easily be someone who was close to him who wants some payback.

In a sense it doesn't matter - he won't be coming back to FFC and if he did write it then it's no more than a (probably drunken) rant.
