Thoughts on Tom Mitchell?

Should be priced mid 500k.
Was the sub twice I think which hurt his average (104). Another preseason into him and he should only get better.

He's the swan mid I'd want most if he plays as a true mid in the preseason

Any love for Patty "SP Jnr" Cripps this year? Can't see why he won't have a 3rd "breakout year" and average 110+ priced at 96. Looks like a bargain IMO. JPK type but bigger and better at the same stage in their careers.
I had Cripps all year last year and absolutely love the guy. Can't see myself squeezing him into my starting lineup this year though. I don't think it's any surprise that most people think Carlton will really struggle this year. Don't know how that will affect his SC scores. It didn't affect GAJ moving to a newbie team but that's GAJ. Hard to score SC points when your team doesn't have a lot of the ball. Hope I'm wrong because the kid is a gun.

Jack Macrae is someone I have a very strong interest in. Was awesome for me last year.

I started with Macrae last year, he was pretty crap, dropped to McGoos for a couple so I traded him out. Then came back and went bang for the rest of the year. Typical.

Can I ask why you not starting libba

Theory or gut feel

Libbas best SC season was when the doggies were scrappy and lots of stoppages/contested ball.
There are very free flowing fast running team.
My gut says libba won't be SC suited to this game style.
Fwiw I'm putting libba as a 90 average wherebi see crouch as a 100-110 average

Very nice, I see your theory. Nab cup should at least give us some idea of how he will go.

I was worried about Libba coming back from a knee, but will watch him closely in the pre-season. $357 is a steal. I wonder also if the improvement of Wallis, Bont etc might give the Bullies a chance to ease him in slowly

Stats can be misleading (i hope)

Reduced interchange cap is what will have an effect on those stats, just not sure how yet. Does tired players/less rotations mean more stoppages, or a more open game?

good question.

my gut says more goals for mids who rest fwd

and more cheap possessions for half backs as they chip it around and around and around

I was originally staying away from Libba given the Dogs are a much different team to that of 2014 when he last played, but he is too hard to ignore at his price. Second mid picked after Ablett I think.

However this creates a problem. I now have at least 3 must have mids in the 300k price bracket (JOM, Libba, Crouch) with a 4th (S Selwood) I am also strongly considering. Can I start a 4 premo/4 mid price/3 rookie midfield (or maybe 4-3-4 or 3-4-4) and play a different style of game? To a certain extent the rookies are the key. I think this can work if the best rookies in other positions offer close to the same cash generation potential as the mid rookies I am foregoing. Plus you take a risk that you have less trades to play with during the season (because of the need to upgrade most of the midpricers as well as the rookies).

Be interesting to see how many teams load up on the midpriced mids v the guns and rookies approach. Their may be some very different strategies at play at the start of the year.

I've got 2 of them atm. (Libba & Crouch) Ideal world Libba returns to his best and I'll keep him all year. Crouch I'd have to assume will be upgraded. I'm staying away from JOM. Those knees sound pretty serious and if GAJ, Prestia, Swallow etc are all fit, I imagine they won't grind JOM into the ground

is o'meara still struggling with his knee? i heard he is having issues and may not resume full training to february minimum

thanks for the heads up re JOM. I thought he was a bit further advanced in recovery - sounds like a bit more risky than I understood him to be.

You still need to get the ball out of the middle you dope.

Shit when did that begin

Wallis macrae hunter Bontempelli hrovat won't be any assistance in performing such a new task..

Hmmm..like what they did last year..without libba

Numnuts

Who is everyone looking at? I guess everyone will have Ablett and Rockliff and build around that.

A lot of people are locking in Selwood, but I reckon there's another Geelong mid who will go 110 on the back of Dangerfield going to them..
Thoughts on how opposition clubs will treat the Jelwood / Danger combo?
