You need to have kept reading. AFL are good at going after soft targets - those things that are seen to make them look good without really doing anything. Including a segment on managing depressed players, or things to look out for, is not only reasonably easy to implement, but make them seen to be doing something. As I said, for them, it's all about the optics. When it comes to dealing with football issues like tanking or doping an entire squad, they decide to "manage" the situation instead of actually dealing with it. I guess, both are the same in the end - all about the brand.
I don't the AFL should, or does, give a flying fig about the "optics" in semi-amateur tassie footy

Rubbish.

They should not even be having a premiership reunion as they should have has a number of players suspended.

Thery cheated as we were the main club that lost out.
Did you watch it? The Eagles went directly to big Andy D to get them to test everyone at the club and the AFL refused, but then went and conducted their own investigation without the Eagles knowing. If they were never caught on match day, then it's a bit harsh to say they cheated to get a flag.

Only because it's true. Will never go to a stadium in Perth until their new one is built, Subi makes Footy Park look like the MCG.
Yeah I've decided not to go. Shit seats from the images on the net and if Eagles fans are urging me to watch it at the pub that says a lot. Save the cash and go to Melbourne a few times instead.

I've never been much of a gambler, so excuse me if this is the dumbest question, but what do you mean by "the line"? I've heard it mentioned a few times and now I am curious. I'm guessing it's something to do with the margin/score?

You think Chinese food is awful?o_O
No problems. Line means for example in Round one Crows had a handicap of about +15.5

This means if they lose to the Roos by under 16 pts or less or win, your bet wins.

Similarly the Roos wee -15.5 in the same game, so they had to win by 16 pts or more to win the bet.

Crows lost by 10 pts, but my line bet one. Ladbrokes banned me effectively after this bet and my Dogs bet in r1 which both won.

Just wanted to say Drugs Are Bad Mackay? And Hank93 credit to you guys this year. Kudos for making this board enjoyable to post and enjoy.

I have noticed a good camaraderie on here and friendliness by posters to each other in 2016. Your methods of dealing with arguments between posters, giving warnings and stern ones has seen resolution almost immediately.

In general speak, I hate moderators who have bad days at work and act like campaigners and ban posters, speaks volumes of the person they are in general life.

2016 has been a great posting year by almost all posters on here, kudos to the AFC posters in generals thank you for making this forum enjoyable to participate in. It's actually made me try and to be better behave. I don't always succeed but I try. I am human and not perfect.

Toast to the overwhelming majority of AFC posters.

Not true, he took unders to stay and was more interested in length of contract to stay at his beloved Port than $$$ amount. I heard it was around 450
Whatever Hartlett is getting paid, it is obvious your club are overpayers when it comes to player contracts and are list management amateurs.

This is because you had to go into this season one player short to save capspace and that is with you being allowed to overpay last year due to "banking" salary cap the previous year.

When you overpay average players with cash and long term deals they will not leave. Lobbe refused a trade, he knew that at another club his life would not be so cushy as it at Port.

Now you have Lobbe and Carlile on fat long term contracts, both dropped this year and no recognised Ruckman. Trengove is doing a good job, I said years ago he should be a Ruckman with his long arms and footy smarts, but yet to be win a game against a good team with this set up. Your recruitment team has done a great job in terms of PR (Destination Club lol) but in terms of building a team within the salary cap and the constraints it brings you are the among the worst clubs in the league.

Geoff Parker has ruined your team, 2014 the balance was perfect.

I would be furious if our club had its best Ruckman under a WADA cloud, and have to go into a season one player short. This player could have been a Ruckman. And then know that guys like Lobbe, Carlile and Hartlett all have nice long term contracts and are serial under performers. It is bad enough David Mackay got a four year deal. But you guys lap it up and still think your club is doing all the right things. Meanwhile you missed Finals last year, with Ryder and Monfries, and are in danger of missing this year with the easisest draw in AFL history for a "contender" club.

5aa speaking to ollie wines this morning and he reckons that they just need to replicate the first half of the season with wins and they should make the eight! Sorry ollie but you can't afford to drop more than 3 games for the rest of the season. Even 3 might be too many. 14 wins and a strong percentage are minimum requirements this year

Sounds like Ollie has been drinking some of Ken's bathwater. Maybe someone ought to tell Ken that 12 wins might be good enough for 10th this year.
