Didn't even play and yet we're all winners. :thumbsu:
Its sad that geelong and footscray couldnt both lose, but port did so hey, 2 out of 3 aint bad.

Not to mention we got an umpiring controversy and a scott meltdown. Oh and the roos had a punishing game against the hawks and may lose another player come monday, and i got to see mitchell get smashed. best bye week ive had in years.

Thanks people. Ouch 2018 not good.
Love how the article states it is his first contract extension.
So I'd assume that means 2019 as he has a 1 year extension in his back pocket?

They have to give him next year , but after that...

There's a thread about trading Robbie Gray. I can't go over there anymore it's total doom. Think their board may spontaneously combust. Enough Port talk, I know it's our bye but let's let them implode in peace lol.
They should. He's mentally shot and not on a 7 year contract. It's him or Boak to get a first rounder they need.

They won't be in a hurry to get rid of him as it doesn't fit their narrative. It took way too long for the board to get enough courage to sack Williams, I know it's a different board now but off field change is not something that happens quickly at Alberton.

I can't see them improving on Gray or Boak. They've already shot their load on Dixon and Ryder. Ryder will need at least six months of game time to get back into some sort of game form and Dixon seems a little overrated. A first round pick may struggle in a pear side ALA Melbourne.

Port are a rabble atm. Tredrea and Kane questioning the recruiting and list management, Cassisi blaming it on there so called " best 22 outs" and the supporters blaming in on the coaching staff LOL
What's "Kochie the oracle" have to say? That's what matters.

I love the post about Vossy being bitter about 2004 and bringing the club down from within.

Come to think of it, this claim could have some legs. Given Vossy only got the job as his best mate Shaun Hart is their Football Director. Maybe both of these guys have been working together to bring Port down for ruining the Lions fourpeat of 2004.

There is no other choice. They have given up 3 years of first rounders chasing the dragon. Now they need to stop trading in high priced puzzle pieces for a future. They must get 3 back. Its too late to improve. Now its about 2020.

He doesn't say much about them lately.

If their aiming at 2020 they'll have to cover the whole stadium in tarps.

That's the reality. No real Port suporter with an inkling of nous thinks they are anything but 5 years away by now. 2014 was an outlier. This is the 7th failure in 9 seasons to make finals since 119.

They have no other choice, their list management is terrible. They have no KPPs in the sheds, they resigned Butcher FFS, a guy they know cant play.

Just read Ruccis mid season report on us....what a flog. Even when he gives us a compliment it's in a back handed way. He said good things about Pyke but then says 'there is the question of whether he can sell his club and promote the game!. Lol. Still having hissy fits because the Crows don't give him what he wants.

Also mentions Crows are number 1 in the comp for using the least amount of players because of our small injury list.

Wanker of the highest form.

The best one was surely that they could use the China money to pay out Hinkley's contract

Paragraph one says that Choco and then Ken have been the longest serving coaches at the club.

But then talks about Fos Williams coaching the club. I am also sure that John Cahill coached longer than Choco.

1870 lol...........
Hahahaha! They have no idea what they are.

The Port PR machine will run with the injuries and WADA suspensions cost them this year. Dom is part of this machine and Kochie retweeting tonight shows the mindset of the club and the direction that this will take. Excuses.

Ken will keep his job as they can not afford to sack him.
They are more or less stuck in a positon now where they desperately need to keep attracting numbers through the gate. The club has fired too many salvos our way over the last few years that they can't afford for it to blow up their face, so they will keep "never giving up" and finish 9th again because they know that it will be a PR disaster for the club if the attendances dramatically fall away.

As for Hinkley I am fairly positive that the club will continue to use excuses to try and save face because Hinkley has been used as the lynchpin of their marketing for the last three years. There is no way that they can turn around and acknowledge him as a failure because it means that the message the club has been sending the supporters for the last three years has also been a failure. I honestly think that Hinkley will coach next year, but the club will remove all traces of him in their marketing as they gradually prepare for his exit as coach, which I imagine will be done under the premise of it being a "mutual decision ".

What trade value do they have?

  • Ebert, Carlile, Lobbe, Trengove, Boak, Hoff, Robbie Gray, Hartlett - All on inflated contracts in terms of $ and length. No other clubs will touch these guys.
  • White, Schulz, Monfries - Old and body broken
  • Ryder, Dixon, Polec - Aint going anywhere are the "Destination Club" brigade.
  • Hombsch, Wines, Wingard - Three guys every club would take, but untouchables. The best three players at the club right now.
  • Mitchell, Coulqhoun, Butcher, Stewart, O'Shea. Not AFL standard players. Should be delisted.
  • Guys like Aamon, Toumpas, Ah Chee, Jonas, Neade no other club would want.
  • Unkonwns, Snelling, Palmer, Austin, Dougal, Bonner etc.

The three players that are the most enticing for other clubs are probably Impey Young and Darcy Jones. And they are 2nd/3rd rounders at best.

When you break up their list in terms of trade value they are screwed in terms of churning players to imporve their list.
