Realistically missing that much preseason will mean he's not right for round 1. If he plays round 1 it smacks of desperation. The season is long. He needs to get it right.

How Port handle this will be a semaphore to their mindset about this season.

I wish Charlie Dixon a speedy recovery however missing training time over February and March often leads to problems later in the season. I am thinking of heading over to Vanuatu until Easter so I don't hear any bad news from West Lakes :D.
You might have to sail over there, as the major airlines have suspended all flights there due to their airport's runway being deemed unsafe.

You may have missed the earlier Vanuatu discussions in 2014. Long term posters would be aware that AFGM has his own Albatross.

Regarding Charlie, it is symptomatic of the Tealster culture that as soon as there is bad news a flock of Tealsters descend on our Board, like seagulls hungry for chips, hoping to find something to feed their "we are the victims" mentality. I can't recall a heap of Hawk fans annoying us when we were discussing the impact of Rougie's knee.

bet they'll ask for another top up player for charlie
Well being completely serious, I'd be far more sympathetic to clubs seeking a "top up" for injured players than I am to topping up lists to cover players who have taken part in a systematic doping program.

It gives me the absolute sh1ts that the AFL is in damage control over this and their principle concern is the competition and the dollar, and they are going out of their way to support Essendon and the players who are guilty. Where's the strong messages from the AFL hierarchy regarding PED's?

The rookie list is to "top up" the main list in the event of a long term injury. If you don't get a "top up" rookie when one is elevated for a long term injury, why should you get one to replace a drug cheat?

I really won't be too surprised if the AFL allows the Power, Saints, Melbourne and the Bullies "top up rookies", as this follows form and their soft on drugs approach they have taken to date.
