Will Gold Coast and GwS still br the dominant clubs over the next 5 or so years that everyone originally predicted?
I've been wondering the same thing. Many are predicting cats and power to be the bottom 10 sides pushing for a top eight spot with not much love for the new clubs. I predict at least one ( gws must likely will be pushing for a spot this year. I don't think the doomsday scenario of total domination is going to play out over the next few years though

I think gold coast will have a big jump this year, they were hit worse by injuries than any side in the comp last year, I think people are underestimating how much talent they have, just because Dixon and Bennell are gone.

I think GWS will improve greatly this year. Compared with GC, GWS have more quality across the ground and depth.

Tend to think GWS could be a dangerous team to play this year.

GC will be like every other Gold Coast franchise. A failure and financial drain on the league.

I think it is coming ...

My early prediction for the teams in the 8 (in alphabetical order) was:

Adelaide
Fremantle
Gold Coast
GWS
Hawthorn
North Melbourne
Western Bulldogs
West Coast

Like Crowbots are dead says above - I have GWS and GC as the two teams coming into the 8.

They just have to have a decent run with injury and both teams will be very very difficult to deal with in 2016.

The injury to dixon is a big blow to port, make no mistake. It seems all the missing peices to their 'premiership' puzzle are either suspended of injured. What a shame:D
With Ryder out for the year and Dixon as an injury prone recruit, they will be relying on an ageing Schulz and an inconsistent Westhoff. I can't see them being a serious contender with such a vulnerable forward line.

Good question. When GWS beat us fair and square in front of a bumper crowd of 9000, I was coming around to the line of thinking that the Giants would give the rest of the league much trouble in coming years. Now that Hawthorn has come out and hat-tricked, I'm starting to think that GWS and Gold Coast's talent are probably no match for winning culture, coaching, and systems. Until they can be Geelong-like or Hawthorn-like in their approach, they won't dominate the rest of us. GWS look further along in creating that winning system than GC, though (after all, their coach was one of Clarko's proteges).

For what it's worth, I agree with West Coast supporter Kram81, who has called Western Sydney 'the AFL's Vietnam'. Win a few flags and you'll still be a liability.

Problem for Port was/is a static game style , mind you when that style is on it's terribly dangerous. However to a large degree the shock and awe tactic has largely been absorbed and countered - they needed a different look to balance that style - hence Ryder and Dixon.

They killed us with in the first showdown last year even without Dixon, launching long bombs. Could have been deadly this year.

For me Geoffa it is still a query on the standards at GC and the Ablett issue. They have the talent, but has the tough love of Eade made changes at all yet? Ablett is not a leader and the continual double standards for him compared to others I think will still bite them in the arse. I'm waiting to see how they go in the NAB challenge, but I think they might get close to the eight but not make it because of culture issues still ongoing.

Well it's a legal move... but it's a dick move and didn't even look out on the vision
Why is it a dick move?

I've never understood the hate for Mankadding. The rules require the non-striker to remain behind the crease, by not doing that he's trying to gain an advantage outside of the rules.

If you can't watch the ball out of the bowler's hand before you leave your crease, you deserve to be out.

This particular replay looks borderline and I think he might be a bit unlucky, but I don;t have a problem with it as a method of dismissal.

IMO it really isn't any different to being stumped.
