Dangerfield is having that thrust upon him. He didn't ask for any of it.
I actually thought, having watched the guy for 8 years, he looked a little uncomfortable last night. He made an effort as he always does to take it in his stride, but he is looking and speaking like a man a little shell-shocked by what is happening around him for mine.
I just hope the kid is happy. At his first presser as a cat he looked happy and relieved with the whole deal and I thought yeah, you're the enemy now, and on we go. But he has said a few disconcerting things in the months since then. When they asked him if he's loving being back, and his body language shifts around and he's dodging the question. He's done it two or three times now. In fact, aside from the opening presser, he hasn't been anything like how I thought he'd be when he crossed over. His footy is fine, but that's never been a problem for him. Don't think he quite expected the media storm he has gotten, but I wonder also how he is feeling about things 5 or so months on. It was a big call to walk out on team mates he had previously talked about not being able to leave, and without a premiership. The only time he perked up and looked "himself" all night was talking about Scott Thompson, and that went over like a lead balloon.
