1. Want a trade to a club of YOUR choosing and mid contract .......you have a contract, we expect you to honor it .......play in the seconds if your hearts not in it ......should be contract payment components for AFL games v seconds games (like other incentives)
2. Want to break a contract .....you're being wooed by another club to break the contract and come to their club? ......ok the destination club must honor the contract PLUS pay the host club a breach of contract penalty, say 30% of the contract value over the term
What about players like Huston who were uncontracted and nominate a club after their initial contract ends.
We had to deal with Hawthorn even though other clubs may have wanted him and had more currency for us.
That is where it falls down and is weighted in the player's favour.
The reason all trading is in the player's favour is the strength of their union.
The hold up in the 2017 Salary Cap is them wanting more.
The game has moved too far in their favour.
