Who knows, he might have had 3 drinks and may have thought he was close to being over the limit. What he did was stupid but guessing his degree of sobriety is nothing but pure speculation.
How unfortunate he wasn't able to submit to a breath test to avoid this sort of speculation.

It's the only reason you go the bolt.

Even if he wasn't over the limit - he had the chance to prove he wasn't and he chose not to

**** him
The offense for shooting through should be the same as if you are .05

Oh dear ....:$
I see D-One has made his way over here .... wondered who was the "ignored content " on my page
What a flog

I thought it was. You can refuse to give a breath test, so youll get punished as if you failed to the maximum extent.

Refusing and making yourself unavailable ....is that the same ?

Also apparently the club gave him legal advice before he went to the cops 15 hours later

What a gutless top bloke and a conniving club
Own up to your mistakes

I'd love to see that legal advice investigated further since Port supposedly gave it before midnight many hours before he fronted the cops.

yes
Is the club complicit in having him evade the police ?
Especially since he would have had no idea if anyone had been hurt - unless of course Monfried was filling them in on the "carnage his drunken rampage left !"

Yeah. Gee I've just ploughed into 4, or was it 5 parked cars and I know I could maybe, just maybe possibly be nudging .05 so I had better abandon my car and get someone to hide me and save myself the liklehood of just being over and the victim of a slight variance in the breath testing apparatus. One can't be too careful these days.

Think it's his degree of drunkenness - not his degree of sobriety, as you put it.

I will give them a pass on this. I would hope our players feel safe enough to go to the club when in trouble. Maybe earlier than after 5 hours of people searching for you though.

That's if you believe he was uncontactable for those 5 hours.

The club were up to their guts in this, as were the players. That's why it's been so deliberately staged from yesterday.

Don't worry. The police have many more questions.

So what do we know. Impey may have been drinking, no evidence drunk or over the limit. Impey may have damaged four cars plus his own. No people hurt. Allegedly left the scene of an accident and not exchange details. I thought you had 24 hours to report an accident. I want the same beat up for the next person to hit a parked car and drive off.

Port board delusion.
Same delusion with the banana thrower after the showdown. They always find a way to defend the indefensible as they believe their club is better than any other. Kool Aid in the tap water.

Maybe he wasn't under the influence as it appears that he spoke to the Police on his way home whilst riding the bike!
Pure rubbish. Any idiot can join the dots and see he was smashed, screwed up and took off with the intent of evading a breatho to lessen the damage against him. Club will cover the worst of it up and then give him a slap on the wrist all while bleating about how great their club standards are and how transparent they're being. He should've been frog marched to the cops as soon as the club found out but they didn't want the stigma of a drink driving charge to one of their players as they know how frowned upon it is by the public and gee whiz it wouldn't look good for their major sponsor.

Spot on. The club has admitted they spoke with him before midnight and gave him legal advice, and he didn't contact the police until the next day mid morning.

He committed a crime. The club knew he committed a crime. The club knew the police were looking for him. The club advised him not to go to the police.

Same reason Cousins did the bolt on foot and took off from the police. Didn't want to get done for drink/drug driving.

Lance Armstrong - what do we have here: no positive tests, superstar rider, overcome cancer, millions to charity, 7 TDF wins, allegations from suspect competitors or convicted drug cheats. i hope next time there is a drug rumour there is a media beat up like this one

Heard Graham Cornes say that he crashed into multiple cars while looking for his phone. Spin spin spin Port working overtime to spin this. Happens all the time you know you innocently reach for your phone under the seat in a 40 or 50kmh zone and accidentally write off a few cars. Happens all the time. Then you suddenly find yourself doing the bolt to Grange. Was drinking just before the incident but not smashed. Important difference. Alcohol played no part in the crash or the poor decisions afterwards. Surely no one is dumb enough to believe that. Alcohol is usually behind incidents like this and stupid decisions like leaving the scene of an accident. Pathetic.
