Last year I thought it was fair enough if the Bulldogs played us at Etihad, what I thought was unfair was the talk from some people about if they were to play some teams it should be at Etihad, if they were to play other teams should be the MCG. Like why should certain teams get less or more of an advantage, especially as we were always going to get a good crowd.

In the end I figured the Victorian clubs get so much of an advantage by having the Grand Final at the MCG, and the reduced chance of travel during the finals that they should play the games where they are told.
It was silly anyway as Beveridge came out and said that they are okay with it as they will need to be good on the MCG if they win it all anyway. It was just a beat up by media and the Dogs fans.

Pretty much any time I read a Crows supporter talking about how Port fans abused them unprovoked, or a Port supporter talking about how Crows fans abused them unprovoked, I feel very confident in assuming that the poster in question is just an arseh*le.
Pretty much this.
I have witnessed violence at showdowns several times, but in general have found the Port people I have spoken to to be quite normal during and after the game  I quite enjoy friendly banter with them

So it's basically all but done that Sydney's home finals will be switch from ANZ to SCG.

Sydney controlling the AFL yet again.
Not really, I support them in their quest to have home finals at their home ground.
Them playing finals at ANZ would be like the Crows having to play their finals at Glenelg, apart from it being in the same State there is no other advantage

Now the Dogs have requested any home finals for them is played at the MCG.
This would have happened anyway. With 1 Final ( likely) in Melbourne there is no way the AFL will play it at Etihad. This is a coach , once again, getting ahead of the story

Pretty clear if they can serve up what they did last weekend consistently, top 8 would be a no brainier. But that goes for most teams.

Consistency is one of the key factors that separate the teams. Excluding the worst of the worst, any AFL side can put in a decent performance on the odd occasion, but it takes a lot of talent, smarts and hard work to reach the level of consistency associated with being a top team.

Boak didn't let himself get caught up in the talk about next year did he? If he did that could land him in hot water, because it's a direct violation of their "staying in the now" slogan.

That's okay. Every one of their losses this year has been a direction violation of "we will never, ever give up" and "we'll never stop, stop, stop til we're top, top, top".

I still think this Crows team is a year away from that ....so many U22 players with less than 50 games ......that said this year has been a dream run, and sometimes that door opens up when you least expect it .......time to go for it!!!

Then there was that other post who claimed every showdown he gets abused, punched, spat on by Crows supporters and we are the worst in all if the afl and SANFL? Lol, I have never had any problems in all my years going to footy games because I don't get personal with the fans around me when barracking for my team. Maybe the problem is you mate.
Surely it is. I have only ever seen someone doing those things once unprovoked (young Port supporter king hit an elderly Crows fan). He went to jail for it, and the Port fans nearby were just as outraged as everyone else.

Just happy all those '' play the kids'' posts have stopped :p

Absolutely, take the opportunities whenever they present themselves.

Couldn't find the membership thread...

Has it been mentioned that final audited numbers were released today? we finished with 66,572 unaudited members for 2016 and 54,307 counted by the AFL.

For the record Port's audited member number fell to where it belongs... somewhere below ours.

But, but, but I thought Port were top in all facets of football?

How is my reply dumb?

Here's the context:

You're the one making statements which are demonstrably false. I'm just calling you on it.

Saying that they'll never progress past week one of the finals (while Scott is coach), when they've made it to the Preliminary Finals for the last 2 years (winning 2 finals in each of those years), is ridiculously dumb.

The one being ridiculously dumb is you, apart from the fact Scott is a very ordinary coach as has been proven with his penchant for recruiting geriatrics/injury prone players the net result being a failure to get to the big dance in September and a list that currently resembles Sleepy Hollow Retirement home.

If you consider they are a serious contender for a Premiership in the next 3 - 4 years you are delusional when even blind Freddy can see a major rebuild of their list is required and has already started with the developments yesterday. They'll be making up the numbers in the 2016 Finals series and not be a serious contender just like in 2014 and 2015 unless you're one of the very, very few that rate their chances.

2014 Prelim Final : Sydney 136 - North Melbourne 65
2015 Prelim Final : West Coast 80 - North Melbourne 55

There will be an even bigger drop off again next year for them I am expecting.

The AO bubble is beginning to burst and we're already starting to see their crowd numbers returning back to normal.

I would think so, a large amount of those memberships would have been auto-renewals and in the pre-season, back when they were still premiership favourites.

None of which argues against the fact that the teams he coached made it to the prelim finals for the last 2 years, winning 2 finals in each of those 2 years. So arguing that teams he coaches will never win a final is just plain stupid.

You do have valid points about their list demographics, and their need for a rebuild. I agree with all of that. But that's not the point. Your response was dumb and stupid, and now you're trying to save yourself by arguing something that was never being discussed in the first place.

Probably a year too late from Port, could have got something for Jay last year if they were trading in Dixon. As much as people make light of the players Port have traded in for the last few years, the ones they didn't trade out at the right time will hurt them far, far more. It has left them with too many draft picks starting in the 2nd and third rounds

North making tough decisions and moving on a club legend in Harvey.

You just know Port have a contract waiting for Schulz and Butcher. One is past it, the other will never have it.

Looks like I "Geoffa Cursed" Schulz this morning.

He played a season too long IMO.
