Gillon McLachlan and his team have now lured David Noble from Adelaide to oversee the Lions' football operation.

Zane Littlejohn has accepted the chance to further his coaching career as a development coach with AFL club the Brisbane Lions.

He confirmed NEAFL coach Shane Woewodin would leave the Lions and return to Victoria, with Gary O'Donnell also set to depart.

"At this stage, it looks like (O'Donnell will) move on," Swann said.

I can't see what role Matt Francis is supposed to fill now given how out of depth he is comparatively to the new additions.

Bizarre appointment to begin with and even more so if he is kept on in any capacity.

I heard him speak at a pre- match function and he was so underwhelming. Probably not his fault, should never have put into the job in the first place.

I was thinking the same thing. I suppose he's contracted and they're hoping he will walk for "new opportunities" rather than them having to push him out and pay him anything. I guess he could be picking up the coffees for next year.

That's my guess. No real point paying him out now that we've got Noble above him unless he's actively making the team worse somehow. If he moves on, great. If he hangs around and learns, great. If he hangs around and is ineffective, it's not like we lose anything - we'd have to pay that money anyway.

Depends on how ineffective, sometimes better to cut off the rotting limb

Yep, "unless he's actively making the team worse somehow". Hard to see how with Noble slotted in above him, but then I've only got an external view.

If someone could get all of that and all of those names, including the changes and deletions, into a parody of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire", I'd really appreciate it. Just a start, but "Henricksen, Littlejohn, we had Leppitsch he's now gone" might be your starting point.

Funny you should say that, because every time I see or hear "Fagan", my mind automatically continues "...Reagan, Palestine".
