Wanted to get one out before the championships. Can't wait to see what these guys do. Obviously I'm not the most experienced this is more for learning, fun, and discussion. This will be my first time seeing some of these guys. As for what I have I expect more trades by the academy clubs. I'll do another one after the championships as I'm sure heaps will change and I'll actually have a decent look instead of clips.

Always awesome to see people taking interest in the draft!

I'm a huge draft nerd period. Back here in the states I follow the NHL, NFL, NBA, and even MLB draft. It was only natural I get into the AFL draft. Since I got hooked on footy before I knew of global pass it was a lot of research on the draftees. I didn't really realize the AFL draft was more MLB or NHL in that your draftees aren't required for immediate contribution. So I really immersed myself in the 2014 AFL draft which I followed without supporting Gold Coast yet.

I started following at a good time with the draft changes because Isaac Heeney going #18 is BS.

I'm very much the same haha! Only really have time for AFL draft though but keep an eye on NBA.

Yeah our draft system is developing rapidly for a changing climate as far as the talent landscape goes. Drafting gun players from NSW and QLD etc was as rare as hens teeth before the academies!

My first phantom ever so I really don't know what I'm talking about but I'm bored and thought this could bring up some discussion. Footy season is finally here!

not to bad .. but I think that either the Crows or Hawks will go for Ben Jarman under the father son rule for their pick in RD 1

Thanks for the reply. To be completely honest I've only seen Jarman once and I love the kid. I've read others that seem to think he's a 2/3 round prospect. I'm really interested and in seeing what he does for North Adelaide this season. Thanks again for the reply.

the crows will be under pressure to get their 1st ever father son pick (to stop the Hawks getting him) and the crows will have to use their 1st round draft pick seeing how they don't currently have a 2nd round draft pick

and Jarman wont last until the crows 3rd round pick

Can't see the Lions taking another South Australian with our first pick it haven't turned out well for us when we've picked South Aussies with our first picks

Was thinking the same but now we have the Lamberts! In all seriousness we still need to draft best player at that pick and hope our processes and structures that we have put in place will mitigate players leaving especially draftees after their two years are up.

I would imagine that a combination of increased number of Queenslanders drafted plus the lamberts will solve the retention issues.

Our own latest draft has zero go home factor. Eventually all 4 northern clubs will have ratios of 3:1 locals/imports and this is what the league needs

Good effort. Bulldogs would probably be looking for an athletic forward or a ruck with their first couple of picks though. Strnadica, Goddard, Battle, Ladhams, Kerr, Carter, Frank are options I'd imagine.

Josh Battle (VIC – KPF)

Height: 194cm

Weight: 89kg

Range: First Round

Comparison: Josh J Kennedy

Profile: Aggressive in the air with hands to match, Battle is a mobile athletic key forward. Desperate at ground level, he stays in the contest even in the event that he spills a mark. Will be a big improver as the year goes on a spike towards the pointy end of the draft.
