Yea, we traded out 2 top 10 picks to get 2 picks in the 30's.

Yeah, but over the last couple of years we we traded out a future second rounder for Charlie Dixon and pick 37 for Paddy Ryder, so it all evens out.

Of course, none of the above is true, but if you can edit out half a trade to make our list management team sound bad, I can edit out half a trade to make them sound good.

Berry, Marshall, Logue, Hayward, Simpkin, Powell-Pepper all look good value in the teens picks and Kerr, Clarke, Poholke, Drew, Scharenberg and Atley in the 30s look alright.

You would be happy with a balanced mix of those.

I'm sure others will have other names they would throw into the mix.

Would punt on a young ruck with our 80s pick if we have the list space.

There are a couple of Phantoms I've seen now where Atley's name doesn't appear at all. Is that an oversight or is there a decent chance he wouldn't get taken until very late or in the rookie draft? He looks a good player from the limited vision available.

I think you'll find he'll make it through to 13:cool:

And we'll watch him over there in the swamp play like Paddy Dangerfield then leave like Ben Jacobs.

Delicious.

Group think

I reckon the amateur phantom drafting thing is trending towards them making assessments that deliberately go against the grain just so they can claim superiority over the likes of Twomey, Quayle etc.

But yes, it's funny the echoes you notice around bigfooty!

Excited by the thought of getting berry.. Need big forward but from what I've seen none have really got me excited... In saying that would like to c how eddy would go for us

I genuinely want for one day the main 4/5 phantom drafters to all put some made up prospect in their phantoms in like the late second round and watch his name jump around everywhere

In the spirit of The Simpsons, I nominate Andrew Johnson.

Good solid common enough name and 17th POTUS.

Berry is probably my most wanted out of the group of potential gets for us.

Lol ... A great reply to the crappiest post of the day:thumbsu:

Just seen a tweet by Emma Quayle saying Port not saying much but Simpkin and Witherden names have popped up

I know that things could still go bad for our picks, but the more that you look at the names being thrown around even well into the 30s it makes me more confident that we've made a bloody good call with our trades and draft picks this year.

We should be getting 2 very good talents with our first rounders and 2 good talents who maybe just need time to build their consistency with the 30s picks.

I'd be alright with Hayward if Marshall was gone, or if we took them both at #14 and #17 and relied on the evenness of the mids in this draft to take two pure mids at #30 and #31 who aren't a massive downgrade on the ones available at #14 and #17. I'd be annoyed if we took Hayward over Marshall though.

I'm coming around to the idea of taking them both actually. Would add a couple of different dimensions to our forward line and offer some much needed support to Dixon, while still not preventing us from a picking up a couple of decent Drew/Atley/Poholke/Clarke type mids in the 30's.

There is less risk involved in getting Simpkin and Witherden than if they had a history of soft tissue injuries, or dislocated shoulders, or had each done a knee.

I sense people would crack it if we got a small forward with our first pick, but Simpkin at the very least would allow Wingard to spend more time in the midfield, which would also allow Gray to spend more time up forward. It would be a good pick to help get players we already have around the ball more.

Witherden i'd be well happy with.

Still think Marshall will be one of those picks though, especially the latter one.

I watched some of the all-stars game last night. Florent, Bolton and Brennan Cox were brilliant. Olango showed some great signs for a late pick. Didn't like Battle or Kerr much. Gallucci looked better on replay than i remembered. Marshall is just confusing.

I don't want Hayward with 14. Could deal with it if we grabbed marshall at 14 and him at 17
30/31 happy regardless
