How's Darcy going? It sounds like he has a lot of potential for a late pick.

How are Marshall and Battle going?

I like this draft we need picks!
Sean Darcy? was looking good until he got a knee in the back.
Marshall has 3 and Battle has presented well.

going back to what Jonts was saying, saw that number 30 (who isnt listed on the AFL website) looks really good.
Zach Sproule has 2 goals and looks really good as that 3rd tall.

There has been some talk about Ratugolea in the under 18's thread. He kicked 8 goals in the tac a couple of weeks ago and was included in the vic country side last week. Apparently, big, raw, athletic and can mark.

Recovering from injury late start to the season.

An injury related start to the season saw Ratugolea miss preseason and the opening seven rounds of the year. However, Ratugolea’s work rate up forward means his knee is currently not causing him any concerns.

So easy to want all of them but he's interesting [emoji3]

id be happy from the 10 minutes i saw of him to use a late pick on him (reckon he will go around 50/60 mark) but a tough ball winning mid like Harry Perryman or James Worpel would be nice.

would we take a punt on Alex Witherden? out for the year with a broken leg, but was touted as a top 20 pick at the start of the year

Witherden wouldn't be a risk he could play in September if it mattered. He'll impress at the draft camp and still go high.

If witherden is there and we have a pick post 50 i hope we fire

Worpel is next years draft

I can't see GWS not matching for Perryman. He's a star, they'll find a way.

In the Vic Metro vs WA game... Kerr continued to impress. I like him more than Battle. The thing that impresses me the most is how well he keeps his feet. Never out of a contest.

Petrevski-Seton and Venables are still my two favs. The game did nothing to change my mind on that. Powell-Pepper does really nice things, but also comes off as very soft sometimes. I'm not 100% on him.

Quinton Narkle stood out. Should be there late, a lotta tools to work with. Actually, there's a lot of players in this draft I like, I think it'll be fairly deep. Corey Lyons looks a nice type, Jordan Gallucci and Tim Taranto still very impressive... And I'm finally convinced on McGrath. That kid is special.

Now to watch the Allies vs Vic Country game.

Remember this is not a mock draft, and does not take into account where clubs are placed on the ladder or where the players might get picked. It is purely a ranking of the best players this year in our eyes.

When we took our pick and the first name started with an R... I thought we were taking ryce.
Bonner only played as a half back in the AFL U18's where he was selected as an All Australian. Prior to this he played HF, wing and he final game for West was as an onballer v Port and was BOG. Chad played Bonner on ball v Sturt at Unley and went well. Matherson is a consumer but not damaging and is slow, why do you think he slipped so down the order. Most recruiters knew this including Parker.

but Mathieson would have fitted a need at the moment, Bonner is stuck behind every other player on the list in his position!
I would have loved to get Matho, as i saw him live last year and is a beast at the contest, a bit like Wines was but less fit.

You've missed my point.....I think he could play wing or a high HF! And how does Mathieson fit a need as he's a plodder. We need outside ball carriers with good foot skills, Bonner has this. I also watched Mathieson live last year, agree he is a beast but that's about it. Good debate.

true, but Mathieson also would have fitted a short term need, which is a contested ball user. Boak down on form, Wines inconsistent and Gray more an outside mid, he would have been perfect
but agree, in the longer term Pittard, Bonner and DBJ on half back flanks is orgasmic worthy!

I dont think Mathieson would have fitted a need right now to be honest. Good player, would have been happy to get him, but he's played 3 games for a team thats won 1 game for the year, pushing the kids as much as possible and who've had their best midfielder only play 2 games for the year.

Not sure how Mathieson playing 3 games for us would have solved a need or caused us to win any of the games we've lost

no ifs or butts mids are needed! first 2 picks, if we get a second rounder from somewhere have to be excellent ball using mids.
one contested winner and another mix of the two.

On that form guide trading down for 2 back end first round picks would be a real win. All of them good picks.

fair enough, just reckon he would have added a bit more grunt at the contest than Arch or Sammy G

Im really liking the sound of Josh Battle.
A Jack Darling type is what we need. I reckon he will go earlier than the predicted #20.
A bit of extra mobile marking power around ground and HF is what we need.

He's a good player and very fit as well. He did the best 3km time of the ais academy this year so he's got that running power as well.

Venables goal yesterday was mouth watering. He may not get a lot of it but he's just about the best imapct player in the draft. Has had probably 2 or 3 of the top 5 memorable moments of the carnival.

SPP is along a similar vein. Some of his break away stuff from stoppages and his goal against the Allies were ludicrous, you'd just love him to get it another 6-7 times a game.

Battle would be a good replacement for monfries imo

Inb4 Young

Just posted a question regarding him on Twomeys live chat from 12pm. Not sure if it will be posted and answered though.

Although they are quite different types..I understand what you are saying. Battle is good overhead, like Monfries, but has more impact in a pack contest. He is also more explosive than Monfries. Monfries is a clever and elusive player.
