Bugger I coach little aths on a friday night. Oh well it probably delays my abusive texts to macca when we draft battle.

I love those texts! Your reaction when i told you we drafted Harvey was priceless!

I find it difficult to credit that English, Bowes, Brodie and Berry would slip that far. I also find it difficult to believe that Berry would be taken at 21 when we have 15 and 17. Marshall and Battle I'm not so sure about.

Disagree- there's a difference between accumulators (Kane) and ball winners (J.Carr). We need the latter not the former.

...not to mention the value of pressure acts that do not count as possessions. Ebert might not rack uo large amounts of diaposals bur his impact on the game can be significant.
Matt Connell from the crows was a classic accumulator.

So Venables, Berry, SPP, Marshall, Simpkin, Witherden all available at pick 14. For those in the know what is the best combination from those options?

Scharenberg, Clarke, Bolton, Atley all available at pick 30 and 31. What do we do there?

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference. There's not THAT much separating that first group, and even separating that group from the second group isn't a huge difference.

I'd go Simpkin, Venables, Scharenberg, Bolton in that scenario.

Watched some more highlights:

Hayward is going to be special. In the All-Stars game he seemed to get some midfield time and found space in close quarters with good handball release. His goal sense is phenomenal and can't be taught.

Venables looks like someone who could bring real power to the midfield. Has X-factor and scope to be Dangerfield like.

Drew looks a beauty. Faster than I had realised. Would be a steal at 30.

Clarke - clearance machine.

That's the combination for me. Two reliable accumulators in the midfield and two mid-forwards - one with power, the other with class and nous.

With Hayward unlikely Simpkin as x factor fwd/mid is my preference along with Venables who looks like he could be a gun. As for 30,31 id take Bolton if available if not Clarke/Atley then look at a Ridley or Rotham if there

Was trying to share link to mock draft but not working intresting comments after our 1st pick
IN THE MIX - with no obvious south Australians at this selection the power will look elsewhere. With pick 17 expect them to play the game with the Lions and ensure they get the two player they like. Believed that Daniel Venables is their man if he gets pass North Melbourne

IMO if they are complemented by getting guys like Drew or Clarke later in the draft.[/QUOTE said:
Is it just me or does Clarke have a shocking kicking action, it's an awkward stabby motion that looks really unreliable. Would absolutely pick Drew over Clarke.

The value of Venables, Simpkin or Hayward as picks increases IMO if they are complemented by getting guys like Drew or Clarke later in the draft.
If the right mid isn't available at 17 im all for taking Battle or Marshall
