Buckenara really emphasises the point of how even this draft it. Outside of the top few players, the next 40 are very even! From memory he makes the point that players could go 20 picks away from where they were tipped to go.

Simpkin reads as Chad M11 if he's there and we pick him up I'd be pretty happy about it. I like Gallucci but Simpkin reads well and looks on another level on video.

Simpkin looks like one of those guys who just finds playing footy easy, looks really composed. Would be wrapt if we could pick him up but doubt he gets to 14.

Well we've already had reports of Hayward possibly going at 5, Cedric Cox possibly going at 13. We are into Battle which we could use 14 for, so its likely to be a lot more volatile than the phantoms suggest.

Most phantoms seem to be very slight variations of the same theme so I like it when someone comes out and puts something different together like Buckenara has done, and 'locally' something like Quigleys rankings.

Looking at Buckenara's 50-26 list he's taking Hayward and Cox at least a full round later from those suggestions, and two rounds later for Battle!

I guess it all makes for an interesting night.

Odds are that we've built this up so much it will be anti-climactic.

I have faith in our guys identifying kids who can play. I am less convinced that our list manager, coaches and recruiters can identify the types of players we NEED.

it's more of a case of who you think we need maybe vastly different to who the club believes we need.

Not much talk on our board about Oli Florent Hybrid mid with class and looks really poised with ball in hand never rushed going by highlights.

I think in the normal scheme of things a lot would be very keen on here. A couple of reasons why he is being left alone maybe

1 - a lot think he will already be taken so not worth talking about.

2 - with the death of his father some people may view it as to close in time to expect him to move interstate and are letting their heart rule his near future.

If I was Port I think I would go around his place and tell him that we really rate him but think things are to fresh so we will not pick him up at 14 or 17 but it is likely we will talk to his manager in the future about getting him to want to come to Port in a trade.

As it gets closer I've almost convinced myself it will be a Parfitt/Simpkin ticket probably Simpkin first to prevent Brisbane picking him up Brisbane then taking Witherden with us picking up Brandon with the next pick.
