As it gets closer I've almost convinced myself it will be a Parfitt/Simpkin ticket probably Simpkin first to prevent Brisbane picking him up Brisbane then taking Witherden with us picking up Brandon with the next pick.

Simpkin and Parfitt or Parfitt and Marshall. There was a lot of excitement on this board for Parfitt as I remember it last year until it was confirmed he was underage. It all went cold this year.

Real recruiters watch these guys over 3 or 4 years- funny how amateur recruiters drop Parfitt from their high ranking even though he had a reasonably good year, yet Simpkin hardly plays at all but retains his ranking.

Victoria.

Anyone think Marshall or English are a chance to go at 12 to the eagles?

Eagles hunting talls in upcoming drafts

UNEARTHING a young tall or securing another experienced big man will be a priority for West Coast in the upcoming drafts, new list manager Brady Rawlings says.

Despite recruiting former Geelong ruck-forward Nathan Vardy during the NAB AFL Trade Period, the Eagles are still eyeing more insurance to help cover for injured ruckmen Nic Naitanui (ACL) and Scott Lycett (PCL) next season.

Ex-North Melbourne veteran Drew Petrie, who played alongside West Coast coach Adam Simpson and Rawlings, has been strongly linked to a move west via the rookie draft.

Makes sense Kennedy aging Nic Nat injuries leaves them short of quality talls

I think Marshall is a big chance to go there. It makes sense really. Kennedy is 30, Vardy is perpetually injured and that leaves Darling and Lycett.

I saw a article from WA saying West Coast will sit and wait for a possible slider but are keen on a big body mid including SPP so basically hoping Brodie slides if not they will take SPP

Just to get everyone excited about Parfitt who I believe is in the frame for 14/17, he won Nightcliff's U16 B&F a few years ago then won their senior B&F the following year as a 16 yo. He was U18 All Australian last year and this time last year was named by Twomey as one of the top 10 prospects to look out for this year- Ainsworth, Berry, Bowes, Brodie, Macreadie, Petrevski-Seton, Scharenberg, Simpkin and Witherden were the others. Was in the best players on debut for North Adelaide too.

Didn't have a great championship this year and I don't think he played league again for North but was BOG in NT's only win and I think in the best players again later for NT. Quigley thinks he was played out of position for the Allies.

I'm not keen on Parfitt at all. Maybe with one of our picks in the 30's but not early.

Don't even want him there really. At best he'll be an upgrade on Sam Gray in the 'small midfielder who finds a lot of ball but can't kick' role, but I'd rather we just do away with that role all together than try to improve on what we already have in it.

Summarises how I feel too.

I liked it better when no one talked about him. We've eyed him off for years. My worst nightmare is the the Crows doing something smart. His last under 18 game with 49 possessions may have been noticed.

Yep, bang on. He's an ok prospect but I'd be disappointed if we took him with one of our first 4 picks.

Berry would be in that mix as well I'd reckon.

Ben Jacobs gathered 47 in a NAB U18 game just before we picked him. Hopefully the list managers have learnt from that and look at more than just the numbers.

Interesting Buckenara has picked Issac Cummins and Mutch in his top 15 Draft board
He also has fallen into the trap of not reading the latest news. Alex Villis will not go at 25. Nathan Eagleton with his heart condition turned out well so some club may take a punt on him but it would be with a late pick.

Alex Villis' reported heart condition is nothing like Eagleton's.
