All that work I did trying hard to predict the top 8, and then they go and give away 9! FFS. Does everyone realise these picks are actually 16,18,31 and 32?

GWS will be forced to take Setterfield with 15 before our pick at 14. They will also take Perryman with a couple of third round picks. So, before our first pick, 15 players will have been picked, maybe more!

hate this trade no end... a chance at a blue chip mid at 9 is worth more than 14 and 17

It's to even to call. I'm guessing we had no hope of SPS sliding and we are confident the player we liked at 9 will still be there at 14. Think it's Berry.

Outside of the obvious positional needs (i.e. mids and KPF), I also think we really need to be targeting kids with mental toughness and a genuine will to win. We've decided to load up on this draft so we have to bring in a group of kids who can drive the playing culture for the next decade, along with Ollie and Chad.

14 - Florent
17 - Berry
30 - Clarke
31 - Cox

Thats my first thought.
Cox because he's SA or best available? Think there would be better fits for us than him, as much as I do like him. Given that we seem to be targeting a player that we think goes in the mid/late teens I reckon they've got their eye on Berry and will use the other for the best mid available.

So as long as Will Brodie doesn't slide to 9 I can live with this trading of picks.

ok I just had some fun.

So this is my horror outcome from my point of view, some may see this as brilliant depending on how you rate them, Gone before we pick.

3 - 2234 - Bris - Taranto
4 - 2034 - GC - SPS

6 - 1751 - Carl - Ainsworth
7 - 1644 - Freo - Brodie

If that were to happen we'd bid on Perryman and cross our fingers hard that for some weird reason, GWS wouldn't match.

Then I'd be more than happy with Venables with our first.

As we didn't trade in any KPFs and there were a few available with late picks, I reckon we will draft 2 KPFs and mids with our first 4 picks. Could potentially set us up long term IF done right....

Could see us getting Marshall, Powell-Pepper, Battle and Parfitt. Add Barrett as a DFA and the side looks quite different next year.

Would not be the worst thing that happened to us.

9. Daniel Venables (VIC)
Best position: General forward
Height, weight: 186cm, 81kg
Recruited from: Western Jets
Plays like: Christian Petracca
Projected draft range: First round
Rated last month: Unrated
Rationale behind change of ranking: While Venables has only played two TAC Cup games so far after just four last year, it is clear with his talent, mix of attributes and ability to provide heavy scoreboard impact that Venables is a genuine first-round chance.
Profile: Venables has missed time with injury in the past but in the games he has played, his impact has been strong. Venables offers heavy scoreboard impact forward of centre and what stands out is his marking ability, ground ball-winning ability and his finishing skills around goal. Venables also displays the attributes to be an excellent inside midfielder. He is a high-level contested-ball winner and can win first possession, while he has the cleanness at ground level and ability by hand to dish the ball out effectively. He is also very good by foot and is able to hit his targets around the ground. Venables also has excellent acceleration and can burst powerfully away from the contest. From here, Venables just needs to stay healthy and prove that as well as having all the tricks, he also can put the performances on the board.
