backed it up with 4 in the GF did he not... kinda like a stringer type. Looks a real natural gifted footballer doesnt he.

Yes he did and he does look a natural footballer. Doesn't look all that skinny despite his ht wt stats. Sounds like he doesn't find a lot of it but plays mostly forward.

Logue's an interesting one.

There's certainly an obsession with tall mids at the moment. Everyone's looking for the next Fyfe/Kennedy/Bontempelli. The concern is that it's easy to overrate guys because you want them to become this type of player, even if it isn't totally realistic.

From what I gather, he played as a KPD for league/reserves/WA and then a mixture of KPD, KPF, ruck (last year) and mid at colts level.

Physically, he seems to fit the bill. Top 10 at the combine in the beep test (3rd), repeat sprint (7th), standing vert. (=4th), running vert. - right (=1st) and 3km (5th).

I'm not sure he has the exposed form for anyone to say, with any real confidence, that he'll develop into a full-time midfielder in the AFL. On this basis, if he does happen to be available at our first pick, I'm not sure I'd want us to take him.

That said, if we pick a genuine mid with 14 and he's still there at 17, I'd be more interested. If he doesn't develop into a mid, we've probably picked up a very solid 10-year KPD.

I think these are some possible scenarios for our first couple of picks.

Yay:
14 - Slider - McCluggage, McGrath and Brodie are virtually top 5 locks. On the slim chance that SPS, Ainsworth or Taranto slide, well, that'd be great. Thx teams picking before us.
17 - KPF/Inside Mid - Marshall's probably the only tall forward you'd take this high, if he's not available we'd be looking at the best available of Berry, Venables and SPP.

Likely:
14 - Marshall.
17 - Inside Mid - again, best available of Berry, Venables and SPP.
*Could also go Inside Mid then Marshall.

Possible:
14 - Inside Mid
17 - Inside Mid

Ugh:
14 - "We would have taken him at Pick 1."
17 - Flanker with a unique blend of speed and endurance.

Obviously it's very important that our drafting team have a good idea of what's happening between 14 and 17.

Edit: Forgot to factor in a classy outside mid or two.

lol how much has "unique blend of speed and endurance" become a port board meme, shocking.
Whats more impressive is how far it dates back, considering it was first used to speak about Michael Stevens

McLuggage will not fall below pick 5 even in an alternate universe.

WHo are people liking for 30/31? Ive got graham as the only realistic possibility. It bugs me we have to take guys like battle kerr powell pepper scharenberg At 14/17 or else theyll be gone by then. A good ball user/tall would be nice

I think mids like Drew, Atley, Scharenberg and Clarke may still be there at 30/31. Would pick any of them before Graham.

Weird question, is it Willem or William Drew? I've seen both in multiple places.

I've seen Willem more, but the AFL's own Draft Pool page has him as William.

Someone ridiculous will slide. Cedric Cox. Perhaps Jordan Gallucci could slide Josh Rotham hasn't been spoken about yet and Brandon Parfitt of course. There's going to be a player we are going to be thinking we have done well with.

It's right up there with Fruchoctopia, HypnoRhode, Talia's cat, Lobbe's marking prowess and shitting on John Olsen's desk in the next two weeks.

You said they had 11 list spots open. Are there 11 worth picking? Geez it is a big risk having 1 quarter of your team as first year draftees.

Also, 11 open positions on their list makes it seem unlikely that barrett will get delisted as well.

Like they did last year they will run with a shorter list size. It allows them to shift cap money somewhere else and also circumvent the new rule about only using as many draft picks for academy bidding as open list spots

As a bit of trivia, cedric cox is the younger brother of daniel cox who featured on the recruit this year.

Even more of a risk bringing in so many draftees with a reduced list size. A bit of bad luck with injuries and they could be quite exposed.

Anybody think we need a kpd? After clurey and austin we're prettymeh with oshea jonas stewart
You're forgetting Hombsch but even including him I tend to agree. Problem we have is that KPF is a more glaring issue.

I think Scharenberg is worthy of pick 17. The SA side was strong yet the VM and VC lads are getting more praise. I don't see us picking a KPF until 30, I think Battle or Kerr will be there.

I'm a big fan of Graham but there seems to be some uncertainty by some fans. I think he could play round 1, 2017.
