I dont know much about the draft but looking at a few of the players i wouldnt mind seeing Sam Powell-Pepper or Jack Graham. Sound like ready to go midfielders. Not sure if we would go for both or not?

Even more of a risk bringing in so many draftees with a reduced list size. A bit of bad luck with injuries and they could be quite exposed.

Not in their case to be honest

They can run with 37-39 players instead of 40 next season because frankly they don't need to follow the same rules of putting numbers of development players on your list in the hope they work out. Pretty much players out the wazoo who are first round draftees expected to make an impact sooner rather than later with a higher chance to make it than our collection of pick 50 players. Not having to stock numbers to get the same amount of good players helps them .

Anybody think we need a kpd? After clurey and austin we're prettymeh with oshea jonas stewart

Clurey , hombsch , Trengove , Austin as ready to go key defenders.

Howard is a swingman who has played back a bit.

I wouldn't target it as a need but if a talented backman is available then sure. Possible we pick up SA boy cox with pick 31. But I reckon we will target mids bigtime

I agree I think it will be all mids unless someone slides so far he can't be ignored

when I say all mids I will add that some of those mids will be considered flankers, mid defenders or small forwards - but no talls until the rookie draft. We will draft talls next year.

We trade heavily into a midfield dominant draft then select 2 forwards with our first 2 picks. Seems legit.

Wouldn't be against it though if the draft is that deep for talented mids and especially if we pick up Barrett as a DFA. 3 mids and 2 KPD's isn't bad.

Yeah, we need a future blue, or at least yellow-green chip KPF, but we've sucked on the "top-4 team" narrative for so long that we're now stuck in a half-pregnant timewarp that doesn't marry with reality at all.

If we don't take at least 3 rolled gold mids given our horse-trading I'll be quite cross. Taking a KPF with our second/third/fourth pick will be a wholly redundant move. History tells us you just don't get very good or elite ones there.

If we get a Lobbe/Willits speculative-type we may as pack it in.

It's right up there with Fruchoctopia, HypnoRhode, Talia's cat, Lobbe's marking prowess and shitting on John Olsen's desk in the next two weeks.
Those came from BF, unique blend of speed and endurance is special as, IIRC it came from the club.

If we get a couple of mids that can go straight away, pretty much send the message to HH and co that if you don't pull your finger out you'll be in the magoos or traded, makes sense.

If Parffit is there at 30-31 we MUST jump on him!

If he's already slid that far there's no need to injure him any further...

In my entirely un-expert opinion, Marshall and SPP at #14 and #17 pls

Nah. More small mids with poor skills are the absolute last thing we need on our list.

I just killed an hour or so looking at all the most likely mids to be available at all our picks. I really do understand how many see this draft as so even. Given it's evenness, I'd be surprised if we don't target SA/NT/Allie mids. If there's bugger all between them, why take an interstate lad.

Because there's not bugger all between them.
From what I've read the first 7 picks are in one category, then from 7-30 are even in terms of mids. As far as I can tell the talent between that second group is pretty even, with the main differences being physical stature and a difference in secondary field positions.

Would Willem Drew still be there at pick 30? Already a big kid but looks like he has the frame to be a really big bodied mid. And seems to be a genuine mid, not a KPP who can be thrown in the middle. Getting him at 30 would allow us to concentrate on more skilled players with the lower picks like Florent.
