F**king gets me every time. Haha.

If Essendon pick McLuggage there is every chance that Brodie slides. Brisbane no guarantee to pick him. It could as an example look like:

Ess 1. McLuggage
Bris 2. Bowes bid > GC 2. Bowes
Bris 3. Ainsworth
Fre 4. English
Car 5. McGrath
Rich 6. Setterfield bid > GWS 6. Setterfield
Rich 7. Marshall
GC 8. Brodie/SPS
PA 9. SPS/Brodie
Brodie is the player Port need.

Let's hope we get pick 6 and get the Brodie/Marshall dream happening.

On field, he didn't grow as much as expected and clubs were concerned that at 191cm he'd be too small to be a key forward and that he wasn't agile enough to be a flanker or midfielder. This, along with some pretty frank and confronting chats to some clubs at draft combine saw him drop down the list.
Yea it might just be that the recruiters knew he had limited upside and didn't want to take him. If they thought he was going to be the next Carey like all the amateur draft watchers were predicting, well he wouldn't slip to pick 26 no matter what off-field problems he had.

He's turned out to be really disappointing. Plays a good quarter here and there but O'Shea usually takes him to the cleaners. Cameron O'Shea.

Yep that would be my pick if we can't get a good KPP. Quick inside mid.

After watching the doggies tonite, we have to load up with midfielders. AFL is all about midfield run and dominance.
Forget Marshall, take the best mid with our first.

And for all the negative debate about smalls mids on our forum, Caleb Daniel has torn them to pieces.

The Dogs aren't Premiership favourites.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean we need to use a high pick to get a small. Daniel was probably a late pick or rookie. Same with Sam Mitchell, Brent Harvey.

Plus, we already have Snelling who looks really good. and S.Gray has been one of our better performers too.

Daniel actually uses his lack of height as an advantage. The ball spends a lot of time on the ground in the current game and as Daniel is closest to it, he's first to the ball a lot. He is so low that he is very hard to tackle as well.

Ideally, you have a mixture of Bontempellis and Daniels around the ball. But Daniel should be changing the way recruiters look at short guys.

The major reason why I'm not overly concerned by dimensions any more.

A good footballer is a good footballer.

i wish recruiters started worrying more about football skills and talent then perfect athletes!

Daniel is an incredible athlete though, just short as all hell.

It's easy to ball watch during games, but last night I was watching Daniel off the ball and the amount of times you'd see his helmet tuck down as he put his head down and just sprinted to get to where he needed to be was insane. Very Kane Mitchell-esque, it's a shame Kane didn't then have the greatest skills or decision making.

Small mids need to have one or two other exceptional skill about their game if they're any chance of making it.

Daniel - Elite skills and decision-making
Neale - Elite inside ball winning ability and tackling
Sam Mitchell - Elite inside ball winning ability and skills
Harvey - Elite skills and line-breaking

Impey - Elite line-breaking and defensive pressure. He's the only one I'm confident will make it.
Amon - Elite kicking skills when not under pressure. Is that enough?
Snelling - Elite inside ball-winning ability at SANFL level. Will it translate?
Sam Gray - ???
Sam Colquhoun - Delisted
Kane Mitchell - Delisted

You forgot Jake Neade - KPF and can go into the Ruck.

He is also very composed in tight by hand or foot, doesn't fumble and is a great KICK under pressure.

I'm sitting next to my AFL late-round chance for the next 1 3/4 hours if anyone wants to ask him a question
