Florent was very good at directing players. Not in a Chaplin way, but he could see the future man. He knew what he was doing out there. I can't see him being a bomb. Id be happy with Florent, Taranto and SPS is a incredible. We need more picks. :) Want PP and Sproule, Want Clarke. Want Hayward. Want a ruck man. Big trade period coming up...maybe.
Who do we trade that can get us picks that will net us these players? I can't see the club being ruthless enough to do it. It would mean a full on rebuild really.

If we had a second rounder, I'd be all over Powell Pepper. Would be that big goalkicking mid we were hoping AhChee might be.
And just quietly, hoping Taranto tests badly, just enough to slip past GC.

Wouldn't even hesitate if Powell-Pepper was there in the 2nd round. Jarrod Berry features highly in both the clean hands and kicking results too - food for thought...

Where is Jarrod Berry likely to go in the draft? Seems ideal - genuine big bodied mid with good kicking and hand skills.

Taranto will go top 4 now i reckon

Every man and his dog are the new bont. People dont know that like cripps bont was always a regular mid not a defender pinch hitter as scrimshaw and berry are. They have scope but arent at the level bontempelli was when he was drafted

That being said if we get barrett i think florent is our perfect fit; runs on the board, much needed run, class and ball use.

Second day combine results.

Powell-Pepper stars. - great beep and agility. (plus clean hands and goal kicking)
Clarke - beep. (plus kicking) great result for footballer whose faults are meant to be running and kicking
Hayward - sprint and leap.(plus clean hands)
Logue - beep and leap.
Ainsworth - sprint and agility.
Gallucci - beep and leap.

I'm on the bandwagon of Florent, Powell-Pepper, Clarke and Hayward. Toot.

Gold Coast- Pick 22 & 23 for Port's Pick 9

Fair?

Think this a draft where we could get 2 guns, and both players could impact next year.

We aren't going to get the midfield quality we need with picks in the 20s. The only reason we should be trading pick 9 is to upgrade it if we have an absolute must have target that will be gone by 9.

If jarman doesn't nominate cows or hawks is it worth taking a punt on him? Haven't seen him play so don't know how good he is.

I think 'the vibe' is that he's pretty desireable. And of course the crer-related meltdowns would be fun. But firstly he'd be highly unlikely to not be F&Sd by either, or not want to be. And second if we did snag him he'd probably just serve his 2 years then request a trade out anyway.

Would seriously consider Berry...tall mid which is now the prototype..eg Bont

I dont think Berry will ever turn into that 'Bont' type mid. He reminds me a little bit of Francis in that he can pinch hit everywhere on the park but is probably best settled on a half back flank. Reportedly has great leadership skills and i'd imagine GC would be all over him in the second round. They need more players of high character and could settle him and Kolojashnji on opposite flanks for ten years.

I don't get to excited by these non-football tests. Even the skill tests don't show what a player can do under genuine physical pressure. Yes it's better than nothing but there have been more high performers at the combine who have turned out to be a flop than good players.
